    First of all, are the red ones the only nodes? Because the upper res node is just inbetween the to spawns so it might be difficult to hold as a start node.

    Well it's still a good start for a layout.
    The problem is, besides the loop, the hives, and the marine spawn, there are no other "main" areas and open rooms like for example, the MOTHER INTERFACE in ns_nancy, or the CARGO room in ns_tanith, or even the generator room in ns_nothing.

    Endless hallways which don't connect to each other are NOT good.
    Every "long" hallways should have at least 3 exits, not counting vents that connects to them.

    Maybe there's too many vents leading into the hives? Might be easy for jetpackers to take a hive from the vent.

    The hives are supposed to have vents for the aliens to crawl through. Just prevent the marines from using the vents.
