<div class="IPBDescription">Though most of u probably know this</div>I just realized where I reconized the HMG from the screen shots. It was modeled after/influenced by the <a href="http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/oicw.htm" target="_blank">OICW</a> (Objective Individual Combat Weapon)
Er... anyhow. This weapon will be used by the US military sometime in the next few years and from what I have been told and saw, it's a very nasty pice of weaponary (the actuall damage it can cause). Five times more lethal than the M16/M203, at more than twice the range. Plus the 5.56mm assault rifle can be detached and used sepratly. <!--emo&:0--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'><!--endemo-->
Heehee it's only natural that it should be included in NS (pun not intended).

Go to the <a href="http://www.readyroom.org" target="_blank">RR.org</a>'s <a href="http://www.readyroom.org/feature1.html" target="_blank">Special Features section</a>, and you'll find an <a href="http://www.readyroom.org/interview1127MW1.html" target="_blank">interview</a> with Mike Wislocki, Natural Selection Modeler. And also, take a look at all the other cool stuff MonsE has made/collected. :)
<i>Moowahahahaa...</i>
<!--EDIT|MonsieurEvil|June 15 2002,12:38-->
A new design (created after an intense IRC session with the military minded Msr. Evil) will appear very, very soon . . . .
<!--emo&:asrifle:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/asrifle.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':asrifle:'><!--endemo-->
Though the OICW-ish HMG does look bad@ss as is.
Oh well... I know the new HMG will kick @ss. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
And, I'm awaiting that new HMG design...
I do realize that not everyone will be given an OICW when it goes out of its testing/development phaze. <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
Personally, I don't know how much I like the idea of my gun running out of batteries on the field...
It's not much different than running out of ammo on the field, except that the chances that one of your comrades will have a few coppertops spare is not likely. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
Anyhow to keep this on the topic of NS... Ummm will the <!--emo&:asrifle:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/asrifle.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':asrifle:'><!--endemo--> take batteries to operate? <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
Yea yea the answer is obvious but I dont want my thread moved!
Good save, dude. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Oh, another NS save.
I cant wait for the new <i>non</i>-OICW-ish HMG pics to make me drool. I hope it's a belt fed model. Just a big bad@ss friggin' gun. Hell I'd even appriciate a modified FMAS looking HMG like the one seen in Star Ship <b>P</b>oopers. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
Or a stripped down MG42 with crap attached to it. Though I guess thats exactly what was done in Aliens, so that's almost <i>too</i> unorigional.
Hm... they could always go with a Vulcan cannon-type thing... Make it so you would need to crouch for it to be accurate at all...
Sorry if it's been answered before, please don't tear my skin off in a painful fashion <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
As for the looks of an HMG, well, if you want to get technical and stay true to the term "HMG", it ought to be a stationary, high-caliber, most probably belt-fed, bad-### sonofagun. But anyway..
Anyone played Red Faction? Long enough to grab the HMG there? I thought that was pretty cool.. With a few modifications, such as a pistol grip, an M249-esque box magazine and making it a little slimmer; it would be pretty good-lookin' IMHO. Or perhaps even better, something ala the Stoner LMG. Essentially a souped-ip M4 with a box magazine and vertical fore-grip. Beef it up even more (it's a <b>Heavy</b> Machine Gun, after all..) and give it a futuristic work-over.. Et voila.
Or a Vulcan-cannon - why not? The M134 is bad-### too.
Heheh, try accually doing that face <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
But that's just my twisted mind <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
You will see.
Bathroom Monkey is a god of small arms design.
It is t3h win.
Please be patient.
That is all.

See, the reason I use things like ;P is because I use too many emoticons as it is. SO, I had to condense <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> and <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo--> into one, otherwise I would easily go over the limit.
I tried making that face, and my jaw made a snapping noise. Ow...
