eclipse--maint hive strat:
on eclipse, the maintenance hive can be difficult to take back after losing it or if never having it, especiallty if they build a big turret farm adn defenders. Thsi is easy as hell to do if rines dont have motion, but u need to be VERY CVERY cautious if they have motion.
1. u need regeneration.
2. get to maint either as skulk or gorge and dart as fast as u can to teh bottom most level under the hive spot, and aavoid being seen at all costs. ALSO make as little noise as possible. Once gorge, in the bottom-most section u woill see 2 row of pipes above you. ifg u line yourself up properly, u can build de chambers ther
build a line of 3 de chambers or more alont the direction of the pipes. DO NOT "use " the chambers to build them, as that makes noise, and u do not want the rines to know you are there!!!!!!!!! when the buildings are done, let your teammates know!. they now have the ability to rush maintenance and can heal simpley by moving near the hive, and teh marines wont have the slightest idea, becausse tehy almost never look ther.
thsi is VERY difficult to do if they have motion tracking, but i have done it , it just requires a LOT of time and patience.

desperation:
strat for several maps...
if you have built up the res pool an your res is maxed (your gorge apparently), and you are having trouble retaking/taking a hive location, get in a vent, etc wherever u can and drop teh hive regardless of whether it will live or not. when it dies, put it up again etc. TO DO THIS PROPERLY, u need your teammates WITH YOU waiting until u drop th ehive to attack. what this does, is it immediately draws all nearby turret fire to the hive, leaving teh turrets and tf, etc exposed form the otehr directions, at least for the time being. or to the extent to which you can easily kill a tf and phase gate. This isdone much easier with 2 hives than 1, although ityt is a more useful strategy if you have 2 hives locked down by mariens. Usually, it will take them a while to realie what the hell si going on before they mount a coordinated defense. Because this is sooo unorthodox, it often catches marines by suprise. Generally, you should not try this if your team ahs no idea what they are doing, becasue teh atack after dropping the hive requires coordination.

ask for boost to get there, its in your decision whether to entirely block the vents (with OC/DC? which ever you want). Just announce your team like this example: "Computer Core vent is blocked, use another route".
Common tip: Build DC's under the hive and/or OC's on the hive.
"Ventilation System" can be little tricky, theres 2 ventilation pipes that marines will use. Both are too small for any structures, so you have to block them from the start, so they cant get there or build OC's near the hive & place web around the ventilation entrances. "I shall lay upon thee the great vengeance".
"Great Viaduct", redroom is very important!. The hive itself is very vulnerable for JP/HMG attacks and slightly hard to counter but with well placed OC's and with Web if possible, its easy to defend. "The higher they are, the harder they fall." You could block the 2 Elevators, but, it would also block your team but on the other hand, marines cant just run in there..up to you.
"Powersilo", you know that this hive is ideal for JP/HMG attacks. Ask for someone to boost you on the ramps near the ceiling, build OC's there, so Jetpackers cant go up there. Then web the ceiling area, and build another set of OC's near the RT. Again, they will fall a long time or die on the OC' fire. As a stratetic move you could block the elevator leading to powersilo.
But its not certain they will attack using JP/HMG but its better to be prepared.
seriously , the hidden DC spam is a common but risky tactic that works for any marine base assault : particulary on Nancy and Caged (DC in the marine vent means defeat if the comm doesn't react immediately by dropping welders or sieges)
The hive costs way too much to be an effective cannonfodder , since it has few hit points when just built. Having 2 gorges spamming OCs and healspray to cover skulks and lerks is generally more effective. If a gorge can use a vent to reach the marine base , why not drop a tower of OCs from here ?
The first use of building a hive inside a defended place is to drop the whole alien team here using the Movement Chamber as soon as the hive is attacked. Having the hive eat part of the turret fire will help attackers to a degree.
Oh yeah the ones in maint are very valuable as well, though you must not play with very good marines if they dont notice the loud healing sound that they make.
