<div class="IPBDescription">Changelog & Where to get it</div> A few days ago there was a release of a new Linux/Windows32 HLDS system. However, bugs and problems were discovered in this build so a new one was issued. Here is the changelog and how to get it below.

[ CHANGELOG ]

Here's what's changed for this BETA release:

» Made "kick # <wonid>" work again
» Increased max_queries_sec default to "3"
» Increased max_queries_window to "60" (this means any program can send 180 queries in a 60 second window, hopefully the various tools can limit themselves to this)
» Added "mapchangecfgfile" cvar. Set this to the filename of the file
you want run on map change.
» Linux: Fixed console not being able to go into the background
» Linux: Fixed crash bug when server was in a path with uppercase
characters in it
» Linux: Fixed sv_stats failing on FreeBSD
» Linux: Created optimized binaries for AMD and i686 (Pentium II and
above). The "hlds_run" script auto-detects your CPU type and runs the corresponding binary. If detection fails then edit the top line of "hlds_run" to point to the correct binary for your CPU type.

HLTV
» uses "valvecomm.lst" for authentication
» fixed "NULL" player names in HLTV demos
» new command "clearbanns" - removes all IPs from bann list

First off the "new" build is a beta release. Secondly they still haven't worked out all the newly added bugs. Halfd (for linux) not working with the new beta (3111a) being one of them. So I wouldn't rush out to download and install it.

Just make backups of your old setup... Try... and see how's working... Anyway, the optimized builds are good news for linux users.

The new "Beta" build has considerable problems, of which there are still some problems under FreeBSD or any operating system natively running a Proc FileSystem or "ProcFS" /proc. Also, there are some problems with CPU usage problems with Day of Defeat and Natural-Selection and one crash bug that just won't die when running Natural-Selection.
