Go to the select tool, click on face. (that appears under the bar)
Push and hold the left mouse button. Drag the mouse over the piece you want to move. Once youve done that, let of of the mouse button.
Now go to the rotate tool.
Move your mouse up or down.
Depends on how much stuff u wanna put in. As long as everything is the right size.
People have every right to be angry, because you are wasting space on this msg board with very "newbie" questions and requests, ones which can be answered, as you've said, in the tutorials thread. If you think what you're doing now is frustrating wait til you get to skinmeshing or animation. Trial and error WILL take you a long time and will most likely NOT get you the best results, because trial and error can only take you so far. The best other option is finding video tutorials (which are out there if you LOOK enough)
Something like decompiling a model in MS3d of all programs is one of the simplest tasks you can get, the tools are BUILT INTO MS3D already... just check the "tools" toolbar for half-life. Perhaps the "decompile" button would be of assistance? you're going to have to get used to that menu anyway if you plan on making models.... heck if this was 3ds max than I'd be a bit more lenient, their plugs aren't included for HL modification, but MS3D HAS the tools... you still aren't making a real concerted effort, if you were you wouldn't be asking these things at the drop of a hat.
you've learned the rotate... and to scale... so this isn't a post about HOW to do these things, but how I do them.
-- For Size
i Find that if i import the reference smd of the original weapon (not a custom one) that i can scale the gun to super-close to the original size of the model i'm replacing
-- For Decompile
Karisto's model Decompiler can be found in the tools dorp-down menu, it's not in the half-life section... this will generate you a QC file (no need for C++ to make that one), BMP texture files, Animation SMDs, and Reference SMDs, all of course can be checked, or unchecked for your pleasure (un-check everything except reference smd just to stay sane, and later, when your all done, decompile the animation and QC when your done with making a reference)
-- For C++
Karisto's generates a QC file, which is where i think your friend is talking about the code, this is not C++, and is actually easy to understand with the help of a few tutorials over at Wavelength
-- For Sanity
don't take negative posts word for word.... unless you get 14 of them (yes, that is 14 different people, not 14 different posts)
2. Get Milkshape 3D
done.
