I hate planetside. They let me in the beta, yet never gave me my email with the info, nor have they sent me my cd, nor do they respond to my emails.

Sorry fellas, as of currently Planet Side is my preffered play choice. Its not better though, just MUCH different. If you want a freakyfun night, play NS. If you want to assault a heavily guarded facility involving AT LEAST 20 people on each side (occasionaly a third is there, then it gets REALLY REALLY interesting) then planetside is the bizomb. It just REALLY laggy, even with 1.8ghtz 512ram 64mb GeForce3 Ti200 and cable. I have everything on the lowest setting, and clip plane way down and those big battles take a long time. Speaking of which, time to log on (if servers are up).
This topic is moot. The games differ in playstyle and degree.
Planetside is a massive multiplayer online first person shooter, thousands of people playing at one time, a never ending war, class systems, upgrades, saved characters, all online, 3 divisions, multiple servers, never ending.
Natural Selection is a shoot-for-shoot game. 1 round = 1 game, you join, pick a side, 32 players maximum, play a game, and whoever wins, wins.
That's it. End of story. You can't really compare them, other than the FPS aspect, in which case, ns lags far behind.
I love NS, but I play PS and love that too. Both are good, depends on how much overhead you want in a game I suppose.

I don't know what you are all talking about... spinach green Gameboy Classic Mario World kicks all these games butts... I mean, YOU CAN BREAK BRICKS WITH YOUR HEAD!
i myself just got in the open beta for planetside. Looks impressive. Another guy i know got in two weeks back for the beta. However it looks pretty laggy, I got cable modem and it seemed bad. I'd like to try it out since I can do so for free however I know I would never play it with that lag. Just to bad to try and play on. Perhapes I'll get back and check on it. Looks very prmosing. However as said...the two games are very different. I don't think you can actually decide between them because of it. However as Planetside is not done yet I recommend NS right now
idk... planetside is one of those things that you pay every month and i hate those. not worth spending a hundred dollars a year to play a video game... its like saying you have to pay to play basketball it just doesnt make sense to me
Obviously they will differ from RL and will bring their own set of problems especially with regards to political control and game combat (heh better not turn into RL) but I find it fascinating.
Imagine if people took them as seriously as real nations.
I really don't want to pay. Better to sample it first to see if it's worth it. I didn't know beta was open, time to dload then <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

and unfortunatly, those things are not cheap.
that being said, PS will probably be the first pay to play games I buy
in most cases you get a month or two free when you buy it and it costs what ... $10 a month or so...?
la-te-freaking-da ..
so go without lunch for two whole days .. it wont kill you.
