My Servers Up .. But Empty :(

didnt know where to put this topic but anyway...

i got my server running stable and quick, no lag spikes or anything.. bwah. i host it myself... only problem im having is noone is joining <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

its running at 350 fps about, it has admin mod, and that unstick pro thingy... all are working great.

so plz check it out ^_^

the hostname is freezy.logo3.net and if that dun work freezyserver.mine.nu

u can use it as if it were an ip... half life will resolve the address.
('connect freezy.logo3.net' in console)

You can't just put a server up, because people won't join an empty server. Get a few friends and play on it, and it'll populate itself after a while.

What he said. Nobody joins an empty server. For the first week of having our server I used to go on every day, put cheats on and practice my turret placement. Then go gorge and spawn 3 hives and practice my oc placement. Usually someone would join a friend or just a stranger and we'd just mess about until more people came. When there was 4 people, cheats off and play properly. Here is what I did, make sure sv_lan is 0. After that get 3 others bots on your server including you on your server. Play around for a while and maybe 1-2 people will join. You have to talk to them, make them want to stay. As soon as that happens more and more people will come. By then you probably want to remove the bots and wait for your server to be full. Then you would have a good and full server. Make sure to use a good map for this too, like ns_siege005 or ns_blackmesa. These usually attract people.
