    Well, there's always the he_dodgeball map for counter-strike. Nobody starts out with guns, both teams are lined up on each side of a school-gym looking thing and have to run for the balls in the center to throw at each other.

    Except that you can cross the center line all you want.
    And you have knives.
    And the dodgeballs are heavy explosive (he) grenades...

    I have heard of this mod called Natural-Selection.

    It's supposed to be original, hybrid of FPS and RPG or something.

    Has anyone tried it?

    Bushido(feudal japan mod), BG40k(Warhammer 40k mod), Quest(MMORPG over HL engine) all looks cool but none of them has been released yet, but bushido and Quest has an ETA for this year.

    and Wastelands, but it's stopped for some time because they need a coder if i remember correctly.

    alright, I've played practically every HL mod out there (from MasterSword to Public Enemy to you name it), and the best ones I've come across and actually play occaisionally would be
    Day of Defeat
    CounterStrike
    Sven Co-op
    Ricochet (for some entertainment)
    I won't bother mentioning the game I play the most.
    Some entertaining mods would include
    Poke646 (not included above as it is single-player)
    VampireSlayers (not really fun, it's cute though)
    FireArms or Public Enemy (I consider both of these to be inferior CS clones, you could play these for a while, but nothing to really keep you in the games.)
    Pirates Vikings and Knights or MasterSword (both have serious issues, but might be fun for an hour tops)

    I can't remember any other fun single-player mods but I'll look them up if you ask specifically for SP mods

    I dont know about Public Enemy, but how the f*** is FireArms related to CS, since u call it an inferior clone! I think FireArms is better and more realistic than CS.
