Just because everyone does it, and that's the way it's always been done doesn't mean it's right.
Seriously, we're not talking about a little fraud here, we're talking about up to six thousand people being held from voting, and that in an election that was decided by a difference of roughly five hundred votes. Why do you keep defending a clearly criminal act?

Sickeningly enough, that's probably a conservative figure.
I just love how Katherine Harris didn't even bother trying to look impartial-- when she got to announce Bush as the winner, she looked as happy as if she's won the election herself.

While it had an interesting premise, the characters were one dimensional, and the plot was hamstrung by tired clichés and the author's overwrought prose.
But - the enthusiasm of a young carterpillar - the impending cocoon-angst - the bitterness of the butterfly - all in one character! How's that one dimensional?
See Nem, I think you're projecting yourself upon the title character-- all I saw was a helpless automaton, silently resigned to accept the hand which cruel nature had dealt it.
Where was the pathos, the inner fire, the little child wonder?

I agree. I never bothered with the topic as I didn't think anything good could come of it, and I was not disapointed.

Goodnight, Moon-- now there's a book.
