To be perfectly honest, I never remember the Hera as seen in screenie 3. And nades with 100 clips. That was Alpha only though, obviously. Finally, the infamous "nukes". <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> that would be an HMG
yeah, i thought it was something new too. i was sitting here for 10 minutes, reading the posts, trying to figure out what the f#ck was going on. i was like "ummm.....didnt anyone else notice the new lerk? and umm....why isnt anyone saying anything about the flamethrower? and whats that big blob thingie on the last pic? does no one else care? ok......im confused."
<!--QuoteBegin-Big Fat Duck+Jun 26 2004, 04:40 PM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Big Fat Duck @ Jun 26 2004, 04:40 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> OMG i thought this thing was a new ns release... <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> lol I thought it was something new too. I did not notice back then the chambers and stuff were as big as marines.
Poor thread... it will soon be locked... how sad <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> Seriously, why don't old threads just stay dead...
You had me thinking that a new NS build was upon us...
Eheheh. The grenade launcher vs hive pic rocks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I also thought this was a new thread, didnt really understand why it looked weird tho <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
lol sorry about that. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
elchinesetourist, that was not a hmg... He even says it is nade in the comment, and it was the ns nade model for some builds after.
Xeno, the flamer icon is for a welder I think.
I did not mean to get anyone's hopes up, I just thought it was an interesting comparrason between the old and new ns. Nothing wrong with raising dead posts (even if "dead" is an understatement,) if it provokes interest and discussion.
lol, I also first thought it was something new, but then I was like Wait a minute, what the hell is that? And then when I looked at the date, everything was clear But interesting to see how NS was two years ago Oo
In before lock: I have once put up a site where you can read some of the old changelogs. It's still <a href='http://home.arcor.de/leveldesigner/nostalgia.html' target='_blank'>here</a>. These screenies are from playtesting version 9 (I think), pretty close to the actual release. And be sure to check out the <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3406&hl=' target='_blank'>Tales from the frontlines</a> thread. A great compilation of stories written by playtesters before the release. You really won't waste any time by reading it.
"Bob" was a great name for skulk. It's obviously the *true* nickname the more unimaginative first NSPlayer came up with. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> It still amuses me to hear MonsE refer to the skulk as the "level1" too. My, how we have developed.
Still,
things I miss from Ns that won't be back: >Babblers >Ns_hera, esp archiving and "hera entrance" 2 weldable doors >1 gorge system >Commander build and flashlight exploits. (<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
Things that may be back: >Fade blink (or some adaptation of it) > That's it really. Most of the removed features were removed with good reason.
Huge improvements that we could not live without: >HUD improvements >"Equip" pannel on commander hud. No more wild selecting of the armoury! > 1000s more!
Long live the new ns!
Edit: Comprox, what happened to that new avatar that was just there a few seconds ago? :S

400 posts yay yayee!
Interesting to see how much Ns has changed and, aha, evolved, since then.
*sneaky raise-topic-from-dead*
