Clan Match Demos......

Are they giving people the wrong idea?
I will have to admit, watching a couple of clan match demos have given me a new perspective to NS and given me ideas and strats that i most likely, would at the very least, take a longer time to develop.I went from 2 hive lockdown to tech rushes, and let me tell you,its far more fun and wins more often.

But are they giving people the wrong idea?

Granted, strats like moving all your marines to their hive while the skulks are away are effective in clan matches if they dont expect it,but doing something like that in a pub server, with your average pub marine team, isnt exactly smart.

I noticed after several clan demos were advertised on our local server forums, more of such strats were happening in the pub server and consequently, failing because the marines just wasnt at the skill level of say,Syn.

E..G Comm relocates outside a hive and tries to use superior spawning time(which, when factoring in taking 250 LMG and 30 Pistol rounds from the armory, the +2 seconds in respawn queue and the slow moving speed of the marines, isnt very superior)to kill the hive. All the skulks had to do was wait at the corners/ceilings of the entrance to the hive and when the marines came.......CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP.All this while the gorg was having a free reign and getting rts like crazy.2nd hive went up in record time and we had NOTHING to stop the fades.

Now,perhaps that would have been slightly different if the marines sent a bait in and waited for all the skulks to appear and get slaughtered by a mass LMG fire, but seriously, ask yourself,is that kind of co-ordination and teamwork likely in your average pub team?No right?

In conclusion,i would like to say, winning the game under 3 minutes like some clan matches do,might make others think highly of your comming skills in the pub server, but ask yourself, how likely is it to happen?

Me and a couple of my clan-mates have successfully pulled off an IP rush several time on pub servers, granted 1 or 2 marines didnt know what the f*ck was going on, but it worked in the end and we out-spawned the aliens and got the hive down in the first 4-5 minutes of the round, very funny tactic, i likt it

The average marine team on a say 10 player server usually has at least 3-4 marines who dont know what the feth to do.
