Who Made Nancy

And can it ever live again?
I know that the source for nancy was lost in a hdd crash, but who actually made it? If the creator is still mapping couldn't they rebuilt it or recompile it from the current map (I'm not a mapper so I don't know technical stuff). I would imagine that if we have the finished product it would be possible to go in reverse or something (again, I have no idea if this is possible ). I'd just love to see the few issues with nancy fixed and have this map take it's rightful place in 1.1, as I truely enjoy playing nancy.

DevilDog is the creator of Nancy (devilblocks on these forums)

Unfortunately, decompiling is rarely of any good, certainly not to rebuild maps. In compiling all the faces of brushes that face into the void are removed, and when the decompiler tries to undo this in decompiling, mistakes are often made.

LOL, not to mention it seems to slice up all the brushes where all the lines would be drawn with wireframe on. And the huge gaping holes it usually leaves in the map.

decompiling also messes the textures....... and the entities....... its easier to rebuild the map from scratch

And rebuilding a map from scratch is hell. Total hell.

Ok, the impression I gained here was that decompiling is not really viable That's cool, it's a pity that nancy will fade away, but it seems it really would be too much effort. If the maker wants to go through the hell of rebuilding then I'd be grateful, but I highly doubt this will happen.
