How Do You Open Folders?

Something as simple as names
Okay, nothing too serious, but the urge to kill is increasing at a phenomenal rate.

You know how when you open a folder, IT WILL ACTUALLY OPEN? Well either my sister's dig cam software, in all it's glorious wisdom, has changed my settings, or changing picture icons, has somehow affected Windows XP ability to open folders.

Any folder/drive that I now double click on will "search" that folder, instead of opening it. A right hand click shows that the priorities have been changed:

-No you fool! I want you to OPEN!

My attempts to rectify this may have somehow made the situation more dire as if I now try to open folders thru right click, I am told that the folder no longer exists. Fortunately, I can open files from the menu to the left:

Now I am sure that in order to fix this, it has to be done through folder options --> file types --> add option to 'OPEN' to file types folder/file folder/drive. I am also very sure that my attempt was done horribly wrong:

- Oh if you noticed, I CAN'T edit/delete the way I made my 'open' action. [edit]I've also found that they order you to name a new action, so I can't make another 'OPEN' action that will overwrite the previous one I made.[/edit]

Help, please. Some downloadable registry strings seem possible?

Owch. Assuming reinstalling Windows isn't an option, I'd browse around through the help files. Check resetting preferences or something.

NM, I'm going to try and backup as much as I can, then reformat this cesspool again.

Well I ended up deleting something along the lines of "Drive" and "Folder" in my registry, MISTAKENLY REALIZING THAT ID DID NOT BACK THOSE FILES UP. So I've already done the reformat. Spick & Span now.

    What an enjoyable experience.

You could've just hit F10 as soon as you start the computer (keep hitting it to make sure you get it) and restored your computer...nubcaek! I just did it a couple days ago, computer kept freezing when it said "Loading Windows..." after I tried to manually deleting something from my registry (whos the nubcaek now huh? heh). Works fine now, didn't lose ns or anything.
