<div class="IPBDescription">While waiting for 1.1</div> Don't jetpack rush, simply enough. My friends and I have been avoiding jetpacks when we play marines, and we play a little more oldschool. Secure at least one hive, save some res, do some upgrades, etc...
Since it takes aliens alittle longer to go fade, it works out quite nicely now. We generally end up having some nice long battles where the game could go either way. It is putting the fun back into the game <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> (the fun that the jetpack rush removed).

I don't think it will be so much of a problem in 1.1 with the improved Lerk flight dynamics.

Ahhh, reminds me of games where I try to get whole teams to kill hives, give up, get out, and shoot it on my own, get back in, and continue commanding.
All the other marines are going "WTH?" when the beeping sound starts.....
Aliens just say lame.
And theyre right..... i agree with them... JP HMG shouldnt be used in the way it is now.... should be more for mobile firepower rather than 1 man hive killer.

Heh. The old JP + HMG rush doesn't exist anymore. No word on what exists now ;D
I have no idea where the JP is amazing against fades idea came from. Thats a load of Bull! (At least from what I've seen)
Now, some good players are perfectly fine with jetpack rushes, because they can take down jetpackers. But there's two problems with that... It isn't guaranteed that you can, like all those hives listed (I'd like to see someone stop a GOOD JP from killing refinery), and secondly, on pub servers the odds that people are able to do that is minute.
Pull out the HA, and let the game go on. There's a chance you won't win (and for a while, you probably won't as people get used to using HA again), but you'll have alot more fun. It is alot more fun to hear on the voice comm "Just killed # fades!!!!" than to hear the ping of death, IMHO.

Sorta feels like how NS should be <i>all</i> the time. You rely on the guy next to you to weld your armor back up if you need it and to cover you while you're reloading, and he relies on you. It's not really the case with LA/LMG squads, there it's pretty much every man for himself. You actually need (gasp) teamwork for HA.
Being that one person.
It can get boring, but usually it is exhilarating.
