Npcs In Half-life 2
<div class="IPBDescription">Allies and enemies</div> I've been away and just heard about Half-Life 2. I guess I missed all the action on these forums, so I hope I don't repeat too much of what other people have already said.
Anyway, here's what I've found.
Allies:
This time we will work for G-Man. He will probably be pretty much the same strange guy we saw in the first one.
We know about Alyx, whose mother was killed in Black Mesa, and her father Eli who lost his leg there.
I read that some aliens from Xen will be allies, probably not headcrabs though.
Of course the Barneys we have learned to love will make a return.
Enemies:
Headcrabs of course. It woudn't be Half-Life without them.
Where there are headcrabs, there are zombies.
We've seen that long legged big thing aka Strider. I read it fires lasers, sounds interesting.
First I thought that those aliens people keep calling "bugs from starship troopers" were pit drones, but after seing more screenshots I'm beginning to get more sceptic. What do you think?

I agree with you, no Half-Life without headcrabs and zombies.
But did you eventually see Alyx mother in Half-Life? I have played trough HL like 20 times and havent seen a single women (except the training mode).
But I think that Half-Life II will be one of the best FPS shooters out there, well I hope so.
But its just 5 months left, hope Valve releases a demo of HLII soon.
Be more creative Valve! Grr.
Oh well it's a good model and looks cool so no biggy.
In the test chamber, no-one gives it to you, you push it in yourself?
I dont recall seeing a girl, let alone Alyx's father.
I hope the AI are good on this, or atleast when you retreat and hide in a corner they run past you.
You mean Dr. Gina Cross and Dr. Colette Green (just checked my PS2 Half-Life cover)?

Dr. Gina Cross gives it to you, you can see it in Blue Shift on a security camera.
Also when you play the PS2 version, when you play as Gina and push it on the elevator to Gordon.
-Ai has moved forward greatly using a more A-life orientated system whereby the Ai actually learns and thinks about it's surroundings. An example was the 15ft Strider creatures which was trying to reach the player, there was a bridge in the way. Without scripting it first tried to smash the bridge down but when that didn't work it looked around. it then returned to the bridge and crouched down to look under it. Seeing that there was enough space to fit it crouched down and craled under it to get to the player.

You dont think that was a trigger?
Just they don’t lie to me... because the AI at the moment looks really nice.
If HL2 has multiple endings, I will shat myself.
the same way you will be able to pick up any every-day object and throw it/use it as a shield. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
(This is my first post so I don't know if i got the quote thingy right )
Well, that depends what Alyx's mother looked like. If you want to see (the body of) the person I think is Alyx's mother, here's what to do:
1. Start Opfor
2. Get far enougth to get the Teleporter gun
3. Use it
Now there are a few areas you could be teleported to. Some cause you to die instantly. One of them, if you recall, is pretty much entirely underwater. If you look around, you will see a body.
A female body.
In a Pink hazard suit.
Did I just find an easter egg? I think I did. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
/me thinks he earned a cookie.
P.S, Gina Cross puts the sample into the elevator where Gordon gets it from, just FYI
P.P.S, this is my first post EVER so plz excuse my horrible skill at using the quote thingy
P.P.P.S, WTH does P.S stand for anyway?
PS is the edit-button for the paper world. It's not technically needed for anything on the computer. However, the form has evolved such that PS is used for tangental side notes that have very little to do with the main point of what you are writting about.
Anyway, I think they look really interesting.
I was playing it in a mission, and at the end of the mission i could exit, perhaps because i a was n00b gamer back then.
If it wants to pay tribute to HG WELLS who did war of the worlds, the island of dr morea, the invisible man, etc etc.
let it do so in peace
