<div class="IPBDescription">Hammer | QuArK</div> Hi folks. I wonder how many people use either editor. I am a big fan of QuArK myself though this new Hammer version looks really promising.
Could one of the mods create a poll please?
1. I use Hammer
2. I use QuArK
3. I use both
4. I use another/my own editor

Experience with earlier comparisons or "discussions" like this have learned me that they tend to drift off into mindless flaming within a post or 5.
Let's try to stay ahead of that and just accept the fact that there are two editors, each with their own pros and cons. Some use one editor, many use the other and if someone wants to know which editor is best he's best off just trying for himself.

Three editors, actually, since Radiant officially supports Half-Life editing again. :-)

Both, Worldcraf & Quark, but riding better the first mustang <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Rational thought in a comparison thread? <i>Are you mad???</i> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm currently using Hammer 3.5 beta for most of my editing, but as Wolv said all three editors have their merits. Pre-NS 1.0 release when I hadn't touched Half-Life for over a year I was working mostly with GTKRadiant, but I haven't checked out version 1.3 yet.

Omg... I didn't want to compare features or make someone go mad and flame. I just see many people work with Hammer and wanted to see if and how many fellow QuArKers are here. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
    *sigh*
Well, what about a poll about that, so new mappers get to know that there ARE alternatives to Hammer that they could try and what the majority uses. (<- that would be Hammer)

I've been thinking of migrating to Quark for a while now but one thing thats holding me back is the daunting task of setting it up

I use worldcraft. Not hammer. WC.

I am to lazy to update to version 3.4 and I heard that some people say it is worse anyway.

Heh, I gave Quark a go once.. sure was different from what I was used to. I doubt it ever stood a chance, anything that didn't (doesn't) behave like Worldcraft ends up freaking me out <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Sorry, Hammer, I meant Hammer... still haven't gotten used to the namechange. I can't imagine actually using ol' WC today.. well.. I might not have my facts straight here, but if it means not having the 3d accellerated view and whatnot.. what a pain. Now more than ever, with the new beta and its model-view and such. Such sweetness. Just my take on it though.

Every program I use today I try and configure so Shift-Q deselects everything. A WC habbit. And I save <i>all the time</i>, another WC habbit heh <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I use Quark. WorldCraft simply wasn't working for me, it's so hard to navigate etc. Also setting up Quark and compiling maps in Quark is alot easier.
