    “Crash Landing” (ns_crash.bsp)
    By HanzGruber

    PRELUDE: Aboard the Jolly Roger.

Returning to their command station, the marines and crew of the Jolly Roger were exhausted. A sixth month bug-hunt was finally completed and it looked as though it might actually be time to go back to their loved ones. It looked that way.

Two hours from estimated automatic docking with the command station, a solitary distress beacon was picked up by the NAV computer. As with all the newer transports, it disengaged auto-pilot and commenced re-animation of all the personnel aboard the Jolly Roger. Sleepy eyed and cold, the pilot went to the main deck to see what all the fuss was about.

Minutes later, Corporal Anders communicator hums at his side.

“###### Billy, I was having the best dream,” Anders scowled into the radio.
“Well get ready for another one – we aint going home just yet.” The pilot replied.
“You better be god damn kidding”
“No, ready the rest of the squad, seems we got ourselves a little rescue to do”
“What rescue? Only rescue I wanna do is a salvage op at the bar back home!”
“It seems a couple of colonists aren’t happy in their new home. Too many uninvited guests,” The pilot mused.
“Bug-hunt?” Anders said, rolling his eyes.
“Bug-hunt. Get the rest of them ready.”
“God ######.” Anders grunted as he switched off the communicator. He scratched his head and wondered how he would tell the rest of the squad. He wouldn’t have to tell them, they had heard the whole conversation. He turned, suddenly realizing the dozens of eyeballs on his back.

“You heard the man, saddle up!”

    ABANDON SHIP

Red flash, yellow flash… The console lit up with more lights than a Christmas tree. Captain Grant, and Corporal Anders stood hovering over the pilots chair.

“What the hell is going on?” Grant bellowed.
“It’s the fuel. The automatic system start-up must not have heated the fuel cells. They’ve cracked open. Captain, if you want to get out of this alive, I’d get to the dropship ASAP.”
“The dropship? There’s not enough room for both the crew and the squad. It’s only built to hold the squad and inventory.” Anders blurted.
“It’s that or be burned alive – your choice” The pilot offered.

Captain Grant paused for a moment. Both options did not have the greatest appeal. He couldn’t order the crew to stay and die, yet Cpl Anders was right – the dropship can’t hold that many people. He shook his head, neither option was desirable but one did offer a glimmer of hope.
“Get the men aboard the dropship,” Grant ordered Anders.
“All.. all of them sir?” Anders stammered.
    “All of them.”

    CRASH LANDING ON “Colony 512”

The dropship pilot did his best to hold it steady, but it was too over-loaded. Trim and Yaw characteristics were shot to hell. He almost broke both his arms trying to keep it level. His only thought was finding the colony beacon.

Heavy mist had descended on the colony and visibility was extremely low. It was hopeless, the pilot thought. Then as if out of no-where, long in the distance, a solemn red light blinked.  This single light brought a smile to the pilots face. He turned briefly to Captain Grant.

    “Sir, I’ve located the beacon”
“Good lad. Find a good spot to land. And…”

Grant was cut short; a large crunching noise was heard in the mid section of the ship. The pilot grabbed at the controls furiously. They fell limply into his grasp, as if the ship somehow was giving up. The pilot’s eyes closed. Grant looked at him, then at the controls and finally out the cockpit window. Then everything went dark.

Great concept, I loved this on the old forums and I love it now.

I'm sure there are people around here with great map planning skills but without the time of skill to actually create the map.  Make sure to post the schematics for feedback first.

why do an outline?  every map that i've done in the past was totally freelance.  i never start out with a concept, i just dig into it.  and i've never fully, uh, completed...  an entire... map...

    yeah, nevermind.
