<div class="IPBDescription">But How To Pull It Off?</div> Good evening all.
I've just got my grubby hands on a lovely x-box,
Halo, and a a second pad. So far it's great fun
and even my little sister is enjoying it (she only seems
to like Mario or Bust-A-Groove type games).

I was watching this video:
<a href='http://gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk/blueyondergames/trailers/halo_warthog_jump_high.mov' target='_blank'>Click Here For Hi-Resolution</a>
<a href='http://gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk/blueyondergames/trailers/halo_warthog_jump_lowres.mov' target='_blank'>Click Here For Low-Resolution</a>
(Both are in QuickTime Format!)

You can see more Halo based videos at <a href='http://www.redvsblue.com' target='_blank'>Red-Vs-Blue</a>.

Does any know how I could hook up the x-box to my PC and capture
the action? What would be needed etc?

Oh and....... why does the Halo multi-player screen
say that my console's name is "Ghost" !?
My cousin's console was called "Snake" and his neighbour's
was called "Hades" ........ why!? <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

<points and laughs at the back-breaking console, and huggles his GCN and PS2>

And if you want to set up for PC capture, you'll need a video capture card. They sell add-ons, but the Radeon All-In-Wonder series have vidcap as a native feature. Something like the Snap! could work as well, but I'm not sure if those do streaming video or only stills.

Not to mention that we can pile our consoles on top of each other and use them as a protective barrier. Plus we can all have a big Xbox Lan party at the same time! Let's see a gamecube do that.

ok, my GeForce4 has an S video connector, so is it two way (computer to tv and then tv back to computer) or can you only use it to show stuff up on your TV and not capture TV screens on your computer?

Back on-topic.... I have an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro with S-Vid out

    Uh... no.

You need a video CAPTURE card, not a video-OUT card.
    In. Not out. In.
And AFAIK, the GeForces don't have a model that contains vid-cap. Then again, I don't follow them too closely. I'd suggest looking at your retail box, or looking up your model online for the features list. If it says video <b>IN</b>, or video capture, you likely can do it. But if they're just standard TV-out, no.

Another good baseline. If your card costs significantly less than $300 on-shelf today, it likely won't do vid-cap. (Well.. except for the nVidiot cards, which won't do it even if they cost quite a bit more than that... but still get whomped by ATI)
If your card does not have a video IN port on the back, or on the breakout box, it isn't going to be able to do it. Putting out your gameplay videos to a VCR or TV, yes. Recording FROM the VCR, no.

Sorry if I come across a little brusque, but I'd thought the meaning of a 'TV-Out' card was clear, compared to 'TV-In'.

    (edit)
Oh.. and my GCN has a network adapter too, so nyeah. ^_^ Plus I can link my GBA up to it, and pick it up easily one-handed. And am not followed around by the low-midrange computer stigma.

A nVidia card, costing £180 ($270 approx) with video in functionallity

ATI make very good cards, but nVidia make far far better drivers and software for them, with nVidia drivers, one update can give you a 25% performance increase. Thats why I'm a firm supporter of nVidia.

I also point you to DOA:EBV for further proof that the XBox is not a good system <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
