HOWEVER!
shooting buttons makes them go bleep and work but if u like try and parisite a lever like on ns_bast that rotating door at marines base, para that lever and it don`t do anything,

same with doors that need to be used to open, paraing that don`t make it open, but shouldn`t it because para acts like use?

is this a bug or feature ?

I think para doesn't act like use and that is good. I mean parasiting a button sounds reasonable, yes? But parasiting a door to open it or parasiting a handle? Naaa, it's good the way it is.

It works on doors, because there's pressure on the button from the parasite. How would a lever open if you touched it?

Actually, the ones you can parasite aren't buttons. They are handles you rotate.

Gorge spit act like parasite too, can be used to interact with stuffs from a distance.

it's an intended feature, and I think it's a good one

yes its an intended feature that para is like use i know but its not like use on all the objects like levers as i have stated, so what iam saying is that shouldn`t it use levers too.

the rotate thing (like in ns_nothing) is very different then the handle in ns_bast

I dont know what the parasite really does but it could be:

the parasite stuff hit the rotate things and get in to the mechanics to function it
the parasite hits the rotate thing so hard it switches
the parasite is actually tinkerbell and opens the door by her magic poof power

It bites the lever to use it

Leap works the same way para does, in the way of opening certain doors by hitting buttons. Leap just doesn't serve that much purpose in this respect, since you still have to touch the button to activate it. Kinda neat though....

    It's quite simple:

Mappers can give buttons certain amounts of 'health', which means that they can be triggered by attacks that deal the said (or a higher) amount of damage. Parasite and Spit both deal damage, thus, they can trigger certain buttons the mappers set to have health.

Any func_button, regarless of damage set to open, will activate when shot with parasite. func_button_rotating apparently doesn't. You can prevent a func_button from being triggered by parasite by covering it with a thin, invisible func_wall or something similar. It can still be 'used' by players, but it cannot be shot to trigger it.

how do you "shoot" and make things activate?
  • DoADrunkMonkeyDoADrunkMonkey Join Date: 2003-01-05 Member: 11902Members
so technically you could be a marine and shoot a button and make it activate, but it doesn`t. does it ?
so its only been coded for func_buttons to work with para, why wont they put in the func_rotating_button or whatever in 1.1
