CLICKEH!
yay, released this christmas is JK3!
you dont play as Kyle, you get to create your own character, and..get this..start off with a lightsaber! and get to fight a Rancor! and can weild 2 lightsabers at once! and can use double blades like Darth Maul! and less crummy puzzles! and hopefully it wont be as dissapointing as JK2.
Enemy A.I. is better too!, if you push jedis off ledges, they dont plummet and scream like school-girls! they use their force powers to leap back up!

sounds kind of like the rpg'ish Kinghts of the Republic, where you get to create a charecter and use a dual lightsaber or 2 at once....

Norn, your discs are missing, tell your shopkeeper!

Who thinks they will buy this game? If so, just for SP, MP? Or for the sake of it.

I dont think i will be buying it...

It was fun to play around with light saber and jedi powers in JK2 but it wasn't so great. JK3 might be fun if they just realised the mistakes they made in JK2.

Annoying puzzles and the boring first part where you didn't have powers/saber.

They should concentrate more on the jedi powers and light saber fights(in JK2 they were just waving your saber around blindly).

waving your saber around blindly was more multiplayer than SP....
And yes JK3 is thankully more about the 'action' but it isnt linear, so you can complete missions in your own way. (i.e. stealth)

What dissapointed me about jk2, NO DARK SIDE (at least not what it was like in JK)!! Some of us like the dark....

So would this be Dark forces 4, Jedi Knight 3?

Unbelievable level design and a ridiculous story?

dont think that JKII was disappointed, I really liked playing the singleplayer. MP was fun too but hard sometimes when you fighted against "elite" players. Duel was fun as hell!

    Jedi Knight III announced
    Date 05/04/2003
    Posted by Seth Powell

Start practising your lightsabre noises, Jedi Knight is back and we've got the details.

Before the end of the year, you will be playing the third instalment of the excellent Jedi knight series. Currently around 60% complete, the game is again being developed by Raven Studios. In probably the biggest shock so far, the series-hero Kyle Katarn is being Force-pushed aside in favour of a fully customizable avatar. This means you get to choose the sex, race, physique and wardrobe of the character you play.

Weapon-wise, the emphasis is very much being placed on lightsabre combat, which can only be a good thing. You can use two lightsabres at once and get your sweaty palms on a Darth Maul-style double-blade model. While creating your character, you even get to pick the handle and blade colour of the 'more elegant weapon for a more civilised age' that you want to use.

The plot will be non-linear, and require you to visit a variety of Star Wars planets like Hoth and Tatooine. While some missions will develop the storyline, you'll also be able to spend time developing your character at the Jedi Academy. Vehicular combat is also being mooted, as is the option to walk the fine line between the Dark and Light Side of the Force. The branching storyline will give players different missions and endings, depending on their moral choices.

    Courtesy of Upwire.com

looks like a morrowind style of gameplay........which is good, but the story is a bit weak so far(and i don't think it'll be better) and the dialogue could REALLY use a touchup. JK2 SP was good, however MP was bad, since you didn't have your "elite" chopping skillz from SP. - and everybody were waving the saber like a kid with a stick.

I hope they don't rape lightsaber combat like they did in JK2. Honestly, melee combat in JK2 was a travesty and a dishonor to Star Wars. If they wanted a good melee engine, they should have looked at Oni and got some stuff from that.

...Or you could just get the origonal Jedi Knight for a single player game that rivals Half-Life, graphics that while not being all that great get the job done, rather well, and then theres the dark side, which offers a branching storyline, plus the 9000 great mods. Never actually played JK2 but from what Ive heard the single player isnt as good, anyway the level design in JK was insane (in a good way, no, make that a very good way). Although I always got the impression that the melee combat in JK2 was actually better than the melee in JK, which has been known to make grown men weep at its magnificence. I'm guessing that it is, and Windelkron should be put in a room with padded walls, before he hurts himself... or others.

The level design arcitecturely was superb. You can't tell me Nar-shadda isn't one of the best designed maps ever. The only problem was the puzzles were a bit obtuse.

There weren't many in-game hints to help you. If you couldn't think abstractly you were doomed in some parts. In that way yes, the level design was bad.

Melee rocked!! Anybody who thinks it was just waving around sticks randomly doesn't with all respect know what they're talking about.

It was one of those games where you thought you were good at something until someone walked up with a saber and proved how wrong you were. There was always an other level to reach.

    /me digs out JK3 again

I never really got into JK2 SP for some reason, tho I have started playing it again to alleviate my boredom. MP was a whole different kettle of fish. Mass battles, I admit, were loads of kiddies wading in and out with light and medium styles repeatidly clicking the mouse buttons. However a 1v1 duel was where the gaming bliss could be found. Timing of your swing and movements made the difference between a won duel and a lost duel. The one thing that annoyed me about JK2 was not the game but Lucasarts.

Anyone remember before the patches you could adjust the aim of the leap attack on strong style? The patch that came out said that was a bug. No it wasn't!! it was Lucasarts stupid fault for not noticing a game balance 'problem'. Now the attack sucks money balls. The exact same thing happened when the spin attacked started getting spammed.

Rant over. Normal viewing will resume shortly
