And Just When You Thought

that things couldn't be any worse
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/04/13/...yria/index.html

No offense to us as americans, but do we realize that we have openly attacked 2 countries in the last 4 years.

First we nailed Afghanistan because they were harboring "Bin Laden" whom we have yet to "locate"

Now we're hitting Iraq because they have "WMD" which.. we have yet to "locate"

I don't mean to sound condescending, but will these wars ever stop? We can play the blame game until the world goes to hell, that won't make it a better place though.
The link I posted at the beginning of this thread is a link to Bush talking about Syria needing to de-arm, and Syria's (typical and politically smart) answer.

As a side-note, India and Pakistan are really looking forward at going to war against each other for some made up reason "just like the US." That's a different story altogether, however and I have taken myself very off-topic.

SUMMARY:
Anyone else feel like the world is going to Hell, only actually MEANING it this time? I've always joked about the world going to hell, like when Yugoslavia was so messed up for 8 years, or about the Balkan conflict, but this time I feel the world has serious potential at going to hell in a handbasket.
/me is sad

Hey, if liberating a dozen countries under tyrannical rule and placing the roots of a solid democracy is what it takes to hunt down the perpetrators of 9/11 and prevent another 9/11 then, whatcha gonna do?

Least we arent sitting on the sidelines trying to be a backseat driver...like some countires.

BTW, why not use the dicussion forums?

I didn't want to turn it into a discussion. Good points brought up, and worthy of being started in a different thread, but all I wanted to know is whether or not people who didn't feel "scared" at 9/11 now do feel "scared" for the well-being of the world.

and I wouldn't call what we did in afghanistan "liberating," but that's irrelavent to this theme.

Just like we "liberated" all of those banana republics? And how we "liberated" the phillipeens(spalling bad)?

I think the rest of the world is tired of our liberations by now.

iraqis.. or kurds? Sometimes the news says 2 different things. I'm not there, and as I said earlier in IRC, anything I don't physically see I can't take as 100% true. I can still believe it, but.. *shrug* And were they dancing b/c they just won the Five-Finger Discount from Their Government Buildings? Moot point, does it frighten you, though? This was mainly pointed at the American posters (another reason why I put it here and not discussion, as I'd want to hear from everyone if I were discussing this)
