A Question About Offense Chambers

I used the search for 'offense chambers' and didn't pick up anything specifically on this right off the bat... so here I go.
Out of curiosity... why is it that when friendly fire is on, offense chambers kill themselves? Now sure, I can understand multiple chambers shooting and hitting each other, thusly causing damage. But why is it that a single, solitary offense chamber will utterly destroy itself from firing, unless it gets continuous heavy healing?
Is there any way that this is going to be addressed? Or does it even *need* to be addressed? I personally think that it's ridiculous to spend upwards of 50 ~ 80 resources on a defensive emplacement that will more often than not kill itself before even damaging a marine. I know it's only an issue in tourny mode.. but am I the only one who thinks making a structure with a flaw so major that in that game mode it virtually negates its use totally and completely is something that should be changed, or at least looked into for alternatives?
So please... rational thought and insightful replies would be appreciated.

Hence why sometimes, OC's will miss a stationary marine, yet snipe a moving & strafing JPer out of the air. Because AI doesn't lead anyway, so really, one OC should never hit a moving JP, except by bad luck.

Sounds like a hitbox bug to me.
Or a dc, but yeah it should really be fixed, I wonder how they missed it in the playtests.
