<div class="IPBDescription">got any?</div> I've been using Nexgen AcidMax so far. Its basically just your regular MiRC with a nice skin over it and some added features to it. It does make using MiRC more friendly and exciting in a way with the nice colors and buttons and the sw33t sounds.

I was just wondering if there are other such alternative MiRC progs out ther liek it. I know there are 2 other alternatives tht ppl use (polaris and another i forgot) but those still use tht bland old grey. ;p

Hehe. Mayb i am just spoilt for nice skins..hehe

I use Trillian, but people think that version of IRC is clunky.

Hehe. Well i do use Trillian for my IM needs but when i try it for IRC purposes, it seems fine. BUt some channels that i go to which have like 2000+ ppl in it, Trilian will just freeze up for like 5 min or so while getting the list. Normal MiRC programs do it in no time at all.

JUst so u know, those channels are i go to are the anime fansubs channels, tonnes of ppl go ther to get new anime episodes. ;p

you mean mIRC <i>scripts</i>? mIRC by itself is the program; various scripts exist for it to add options and make it look better. If you meant a different IRC client, try jIRC...LOL, j/k.

the most popular mIRC script is polaris (i think). I use omega script, but that's only out of channel loyalty <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Search for DarkStyle Pro... I'm sure it still exists somewhere, and it's got some nice things. If cool sounds and colors are all you want, however, I'd suggest just vanilla mIRC, with some customization. Adding sounds through remote scripts isn't that difficult, and colors are completely customizable... not only that... it's the most stable client without excess crap you'll ever find. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

I really like mIRC because it has very good scripting capabilities.
(even if the script parser isn't programmer-friendly (you have to put the {in the same line as the command... that's crap :/ ))

Buy a mac, get snak, and get kicked off every 30 minutes. Then destroy said mac.

wahhh? the basic mirc program is what i use with just some basic scripts....do some personal editing and bam! its great... lol . i find those specialized mirc's are sooooo bloated and too many options it makes me mad to even use....

What exactly is wrong with the normal mIRC?

I use <a href='http://www.Klient.com' target='_blank'>Klient</a> because I really really hate mIRC:s multi-server bs. The only thing bad about Klient is that the new version only has a 30 day trial period, so I use the old version which works like a charm.

<a href='http://www.kvirc.net/' target='_blank'>KVirc</a> - Free, open source, and runs on Windows and Linux.

    It has cool icons too <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Probably because the scripts use line numbers (at least in the file) and the guy was too lazy to make the parser read until it finds the next syntax element.

    <a href='http://www.xchat.org' target='_blank'>www.xchat.org</a>

XChat's a great IRC client, though it doesn't have the 'ooh, flashy lights!' factor that the original poster seems to want. It's more of a power user's client. Binary plugin support, as well as native PERL scripting. Configurable out the *ss, but comes with defaults that you can just install and go with, then modify later to get your personal preferences suited.

Windows and Linux, and I believe it also supports TCL modification without a compile.. though I've never put that feature to use, myself.

I use <a href='http://fractal2.sourceforge.net/index.php' target='_blank'>Fractal</a> IRC. It's nothing all that special, but it has themes that don't hurt my eyes the way mIRC can.
