i stil donno if i will or not but i'll send it to panther (not that he'll use it but i wanna see wot he says) athough it aint quite finished stil have some metal effects to put on as soon as my paint shop pro stops *****g me off
Drake, great base. But you need to work on your highlights and shadows a lot more. As far as I can tell, you haven't done any work in that department. My take on your previews here, are you're using some renderer to show off some shadows. But things like the switches on the side of the gun look awfully flat.
If you have never done any shading on paper, then it's probably going to be hard to understand the concepts of proper gradation and contrasts. But you've probably got some abilities in you if you've come this far, so I think you can do this.
Use the burn and dodge tool to create shadows and highlights respectively. If you don't know how layers work, fiddle around with them, they'll save you a lot of headache. I can't offer much advice on brushes, but I'm sure there are a lot of tutorials that'll help you get the effect you can imagine in your head.
Also, I can see some of your lines. Here's a tip, when you do any skinning, bleed over the edges of the mesh just a little so you avoid the black lines.
Oh, and clean up your lines around the camo. I can see near the back end some nasty anti-aliasing going on.
thanks for the advice i was working on the shadows and metal textures but i havnt added any in yet untill im 100% sure it'll workout (i tried before but the metal looked smudged )
I can understand BP getting a bit impatient with the lack of finished skins, but considering no one trying it has even done skinning before , it's obviously gonna be a lengthy process.
I've been too busy to do anything on mine, but it has helped me brush up on my photoshop quite a bit.
End of the day, it's a learning process. I'm a trained artist, but just because I could do it with a paintbrush, does NOT mean I can do it with a mouse, as I'm rapidly learning...

Mr Headcrab i have to be honest with you that skin is absoulty !#$% the marbleish bit that is, it should be green or something, that brown marble colour wont look good, guns have one colour generaly

Personally I think futuristic weapons can be any damn colour you fancy. Look how popular the SC and Warhammer marines were. Now don't try and tell me bright red or blue is a sensible colour for armour?
Ignore it, otherwise all this thread is going to produce is 15 identical "just like the film" skins, and there's already at least 2 of those out months back.
keep in mind, the people here come from another mod who liked to download dildos to replace their knife....
So a marble M41A doesn't look so weird
You firearms weirdos. And yeah, I've thought for a long time it looks like marble, but my mommy told me if I had nothing nice to say.
I want to see other skins for this, but I would really like a "default" one that is like the movie. Reskins later. The grey is ok too because they used darker versions too. Marble or whatever it is is nice and interesting, but not really a good base to go from. It seems more like a reskin than a skin, and what we are looking for is a skin.
