<div class="IPBDescription">.wad files?</div>Some times when trying to get certain maps up, Half Life will give me this message saying "Couldn't open valve/.wad file!"  or something that close...  I'm not sure what the problem could be, but then again when ever I play Half Life the sky is misplaced and scrammbled up.  But then again those are probably two different things.  Anyone have some solution to either of these problems?

all I know is that it means your wad file is corrupted or that file is missing.

Re: The inability to find a wadfile

Often this happens because of an incorrect compile, or a map that gets shipped missing a wadfile or two.  Or, in the case of a selfmade map, if you're making it for NS and running it in regular HL, it won't be able to find the ns.wad.

If you =have= the wadfile it's looking for, simply copy it to /valve (or in the case of the selfmade map deal, run your game -nstr).

    Re: skies

From what I've heard, this is a bug in the new HL patch.  Hopefully the =next= patch will fix it.

About the skies, a possible fix for that is to get a PAK explorer like Wally, open up half-life\valve\pak0.pak, then go to gfx\env and extract all the .tga files to your half-life\gfx\env\ directory.  The problem is (AFAIK) that it can't read in the default sky files from pak0.pak, so if you just copy them to your half-life directory it should work.
