I've never seen this before, but I would also recommend checking your BIOS settings to see if something is fubar.
what OS are you running?
Im runnin windows XP pro, clean install just recently.
Its a 5 gig removable drive...
Take the necessary precautions, such as a sufficient supply of clean water, food for a week, and a shelter that can withstand earthquakes of a up to a strength of seven on the Richter scale!
Nothing wrong with it... My computer is on pretty much 24/7.
When I had win98 SE I spent more time staring at a blue screen than anything... When I had Win2k I couldnt do anything gaming because of the AMD and Geforce thing.
I havent had a single problem with XP, Ever. It hasnt crashed once.

I can still right click on it and explore the drive... But its a pain in the ****

My roommate was having the same problems with his removable drives after having NO luck fixing it. He eventually just went back to standard drives.
Before Monse tears out your liver I thought I'd answer your question.
1) Download <a href='http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp' target='_blank'>TweakUI for Windows XP</a>
2) Go to My Computer->Autoplay
3) Look at picture. If you can't figure out what to do, hit yourself in the face then post a reply asking more specific instructions.
4) Run from Monse before he pwns you for leaving out vital system diagnostic information! ^_^
I didnt know about tweak UI.... And you really didnt have to give me that much detail, lol
clearly you are wrong.
xp needs 2rd party software to work .. thus = sucks
ill share my 2 xp night mares with you.
1) my machine aprox 3 weeks after i buy xp
TOTAL system melt down xp destroys its self adn correupts every file on hdd
required removal of hdd form machine foloowed by complete reformat of entire drive.<!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
2)girl i knows computer instalition of new cdr into existing winxp machine.
putting a cd rom drive and a cdr on teh same bus causes all ide devices to stop functionaing normally.
after much struggle make xp boot again only to disocver that the cd rom and cdr are considered teh same drive and given a name composed of teh "wingdings" font classic jappanese characters and three of teh empty box character followed by cd a string of random english characters and tehn rom. admited ly i thought this was hilarious, still do but the girl who had jsut got a new drive was not of teh same oppionion and we had to move the drives around oon teh bus to get them to be separate again:)
2) i have my drives set up just like that right now, things have been working fine for as long as i've had xp (1+ year)
and what 2nd party software do you need to make it "work" that you don't for 2k?
you are aware that XP is just 2k, but with BETTER application compatibility, BETTER hardware compatibility (2k is still for businesses, not home users), etc?
I think its a forum rule... post anything in a forum about a OS and some fool will come in and say X OS is better.
"0Mfg win2k r0x0rz winxp!!!!!!11one"
I have an AMD Athlon XP, Geforce 4 and I have no issues gaming what so ever.
oh, and

oh, and does any one else feel their brains leak out their rears after trying to decipher confused!'s post?
I still have not had any problems with XP (all of my friends run it and I am the tech monky for em, once you figgure out how to make it not 'stupid freindly' it aint so bad)
