Lazy People

learn something !
too much requests for such a small number of modellers/skinners/animators.

don't be lazy and learn something.
stop requesting and make them yourself.

I personally need help making the medieval tc, i'm in charge of the skinning,
and I need contributors for my project.

so if you keep taking and not giving, you are an obstacle.

I hope you have your flame-proof socks on mate..

For what it's worth I agree with you completely. Look at the models/ skins forums for any other mod or game, and compare the amount of "mreq" threads with this board..

People really should try doing something for themselves. Even if you make nothing of any use, you WILL learn a helluva lot in the process, you might even enjoy it, also the chances of your model getting made are greatly increased if you do it....

Modelling101, for those of you who might have missed it..

Contains tips, tutorials, stacks of links and other helpful advice. Go read it? Please?

Honestly, it's actually quite good fun. Even if you cant be arsed with the complexities of 3D modelling, you can do reskins with Half Life Model Viewer and MSPaint..( although I prefer Corel Photopaint myself..)

Go on, have a crack at it, you know you want to..

Look at all the "my first gun model" threads from last week. Some good, some not so good, did they get flamed for their first efforts? No, they got much respect for actually trying it for themselves..

You're assuming that everyone who makes requests has the talent/intelligence to learn to model.
That I find hard and difficult and hard to believe.

Yeah, fair enough, it's not easy, but it's not exactly rocket science either.

    If you can..

    a) set up a PC and an isp account, install HL, find and install all the relevant patches, upgrades, mods etc
    b) connect to the internet, find this forum, register an account
    c) use search engines to find reference pics for all these suggestions, save the pics and upload them to these forums

Then you probably have enough intelligence to find a modelling or painting program and at least get it running.

See how it works, play around with it.

They don't bite y'know, although they may crash your PC a little more often than you'd like*....:/

    * my own fault really, using weird open source software with 3 different apps open in the background on a woefully underpowered PC = bad idea

inspiration is good, not contributing by learning, is bad.

    got it?

I say that it's correct that if you want something, you have to give something back in exchange.
afterall, the world works this way, don't try to get around it.

My POV is just hypothetical b/c I never use to request models or stuff like taht. It is a philosophical position.

Nobody forces a skilled modeller to fulfill his request. If the modeller does it - hey, great. He gets credit and honor and stuff for his work. If he doesn´t like the idea... well. He can do something else then. Not everybody has the creativity, endurance and perhaps intelligence to be a good mapper, modeller, skinner or whatever. Just feel elite that you have a skill that most other gamers do not have. Right?

    [/hypothetical discussion]

    have you ever tried skinning?
nobody's not intelligent enough to not be able to skin...

What part of "perhaps " don?t you understand? The "perhaps" or the joke? ->

Oh, and what I forgot: Even if ppl would aquire basic knowledge in all fields (mapping, modelling, skinning etc.) in which they are interested, there would still be some who are more skilled - so my advice: Enjoy being an elite minority.
