<div class="IPBDescription">Why not?? :D</div> There's a linux version of the halflife engine out there, as I'm sure many people know. <a href='http://lhl.linuxgames.com/' target='_blank'>http://lhl.linuxgames.com/</a>
I'm going to be running Mandrake on my box, and once I sort out the stupid PPPoE problems, I'll be online, and able to use it to better correct problems on my Mandrake server. Now, the one thing I'd like to see, is for flayra and his team to make a linux binary, an .so client library for halflife, and distribute it with 1.1 for both servers and clients, so that we can all enjoy NS on our Linux boxes. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Hope people like this idea, and I hope someone brings it to the dev teams attention...maybe a sticky? <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> + Windows = NO WIN!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Click that link again and you'll that that its just HL.exe running on wine builds.
a linux build for teh client isn't even possible.
i get 60-90 FPS in Windows and 40 - 60 under Linux. As long as you have a fairly decent box it will run fine.
however, I'm pretty sure we need linux libs don't we?
or is it just the executable, because they've been working on some of the mods by the sounds of it, such as cs, and making the compatible. I would assume this means they've been trying to make linux binaries of them, which you would need, since the dlls are full of windows stuff that probably would still mess up winex since it's not very "smart" to try to simply convert a dll to an ix86 so....
Flayra ... could you pleaaaaaaaase! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

They mean the linux server version. The main bit that's missing is the renderer.
I'd like it (not as much as a source release) if they released an opengl only half-life without the gui (which is obviously windows specific).
