After an endless hiatus, i update wc.
O.K, It's been a good 2 or 3 months since I last mapped. My last attempt kinda failed spectacualrly. I don't know much about much when it comes to mapping, but I do know what I like. Admittedly, I have forgotton how to do clip-brushes and have to get back into understanding the myriad of errors that occur. Here are the results of a good 30 minutes of tooling around with worldcraft after setting it up. Note: These shots do have a leak in them, I have to find it. Until then, R_speeds will appear higher than normal (unless thats not how leaks affect it (seems like it though)). Anyway, Ive yet to add any details, but I found it fun to make goofy architecture.

So tell me, is it worth it to start mapping again, or hsould I clear up all the space that my new WC takes up. I wan't to know If you peeps think I have enough skillz or potential to make a decent map provided a re-learn all the stuff I once knew. ALso, any ideas of cool ideas to put into this room. I only have the architecture partially done. Unless of course, you htink Im a lost cause.

MAAAAAAAAAAP!!! i like ur skills, tell me you dont enjoy mapping from time to time. do it when you feel you want to!

erm, i dont think that blue light texture is a good one to use, its too busy and distracting. Also how can you have light and shadows if there is a leak in your map? (unless you have those really old compile tools that didnt mind)

Nope, using new tools. Will change texture. hmmm. well, lets see if I can kill whatever error I was getiing, thought it was a leak. Just a min.

O.K. Made some changes. New lights. Same error (haven't actually tried fixing it yet, having too much fun, plus, doesnt seem to do anything.) Also added a few little silly details. Open to suggestions.

Green light is definately better. I don't see anything else that needs improvment. Just give us more shots!

Yes! Keep going! That looks really great! The lighting is wonderful... Nice blend of bright and dark (darkness is not good in NS... darkness with brightness... is) That second batch of shots with the green lighting is VERY nice! It reminds me of something, but I'm not sure what.

    STICK WITH IT

I definitely say you should stick with mapping. You do look like you've got amazing potential.. especially if this is one of your first attempts. As long as you enjoy it, judging from these shots, I'd really like to see you continue on with level design.

Actually, I'll severely hurt you if you don't.

YAY! Me so happy! Well, with all this feedback. I'm off to do two things. First, Im gonna go through some of the more advanced tutorials at sights and learn more baout clipbrushes and more complex entities. Next, Im going to finally figure out particle systems. Than, Im going to make a layout. And when ALl is said and done, exam week will be opver and I'll have an open summer to map like crazy. Shots of whatever work will be posted as time allows. Thanks again for the feedback.

the architecture itself is great indeed but i think u need to aleign the textures better, it looks odd in some places.

other than that, good work and keep on going in that direction

great architecture. texturing is so-so. i would also suggest changing the lighting a bit to get more shadows...
