I'm aware that he's talking about a new unreleased version.

But I don't see any reason why a custom build working isn't the safest assumption in this case.

    Safe Assumptions > CrackerJackMack

grrr, call it wishful thinking. Maybe in rh9 that they updated the libs to not be ghetto?

Not if RH stays true to their track record.

yes, I'm sure they included the "Woooo" as well.

People may call RedHat crap, but it works for me and my n00b ghetto style of administrating <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I use RedHat as well and it works. As for people who diss the security, if you don't know how to secure, patch and configure a Linux box then you don't know how to make any distribution secure.

I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the RedHat 9 ISO's to test NS and adminMod on. Apparently I have to wait until the 9th when it's made publicly available.

I recently changed over from slack to rh. The main reason was the up2date command. Got so tired of having to compile everything. And as far as it goes, they're is nothing wrong with RH.

You can download RedHat 9 from the following mirror:

    <a href='http://isozone.vlad.vanderbilt.edu/redhat.php' target='_blank'>http://isozone.vlad.vanderbilt.edu/redhat.php</a>

NOTE: You cant use download managers, but the mirror is working!

just so you guys know, RH is the basis for alot of testing envoiments. SSI, Virtual Linux Server Cluster, etc are all based on RH7.2 (will RH)

I dunno why they chose RH, but thats what they did, although you can customize these to use another distro, the base install is still based on RH which you need to be familar with inorder to rebuilt it into another OS.

    btw, thnx for the link.

Yes, thank you for sharing that. I'll probably test it this weekend and post results in the pinned thread regarding redhat and adminMod.

I installed Redhat 9 on a spare box with Metamod 1.15 and AdminMod 2.50.52 and it still crashes. Unfortunately whatever the problem that plagues previous version of Redhat still exsist in RedHat 9
