    It certainly does!

As for the Xbox - if the rumours about you runnign linux on it without any kind of hardware hax is true - well, then I guess I gotta go own one <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> I wonder how a dedicated NS server runs on it. Probably not THAT well!

The controler? Well I dont like it due to it's SIZE. The PS2 controller is right up my alley, and it seems to be quite sturdy. I must have dropped it 20 times and not a thing has happened to it. Only peeve I have are the analog controllers - they are not as good as the Xbox ones. Thats definitely a good thing about the Xbox controller design. And I wish Sony would redesign theirs to get some better analogs implemented.

Also a lot of cheap PS2 games of good quality is out now on platinum label or good old discount. I just picked up Maximo Ghost to Glory for ?25. Good fun old skool action game that is actually DIFFICULT! Yeah, radical! A game that does not let you have 10000000000000 lives or save points every half-a-level. In this game you must build up mastery like in the golden age of arcade games.

I gotta say that the X-Box controller really is too chunky. I mean I'm 6 foot 6 and my hands don't fit around the damn thing <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Never mind also that most of the space seems to be taken up by a gigantic X...

It isn't made so your hands fit around it, it's made so your fingers reach the buttons.

You know, they make smaller ones, s-controllers.

Rather impressive post count for 1 months work...

Well if I actually ever bothered to stoop to the level of consolers and buy an X-Box, doubtless I'd get one of the smaller controllers.

Yeah, well, you didn't have problems stooping to unjustified platform fascism. The road to a console must have been cleared for you, pal.

Meh, there's only one game I'd have any interest in playing on the X-bucks... JSRF. And that's just because the original JSR on Dreamcast was so frickin' fun. Don't know how I'd skate around lugging a thirty-pound console, or a controller the size of a freaking Buick. Personally, I'd like to have any console I shelled out for come with a controller that is graspable by the human hand, and not only freakishly large basketball players... instead of having to shell out another thirty for the controller that SHOULD have been packaged with it in the first place.

Sorry... if I want a mid-low end computer, I'll build one.

PS2 is decent... about the only things I use it for are original PSX games (still have my 5501 though), DVDs, and Dark Cloud 2/Grandia 2 (which gets HORRIBLE framerates just walking around, for some reason). Gamecube is better.. kickass games like Pikmin, SSB:M, Metroid Prime, SSX Tricky (yes, I prefer the GC version over the PS2), Starfox Adventures, Sonic Adventure 2, Bomberman... the list goes on.
Best would have to be the Dreamcast though. Introduced me to Crazy Taxi, looks BEAUTIFUL, no slowdowns *ever*, FSAA on the VGA box... it's a shame that it had to go under with such a small library. That little box (Black Belt, Katana, etc) easily held the most promise of any platform to date. Not to mention holding up the insanity of ChuChuRocket with a controller with CORRECT buttons (d*mn you, GBA! D*MN YOOOOOUUUU!)

Older-school gaming, my SEGA Stack of Power (Gen-1 Genesis, Gen-1 SegaCD, 32X) still sees use with stuff like Snatcher, Shining Force, and of course.. Sonic CD. Don't know what I'll do when the new Sonic game is released for the GBA... if it'll manage to tear me away from Dr. ROBOTNIK (<b>not</b> Eggman, you b*stards!!!) slipping through time, for the portability of the neat little cartridge. Probably not... it isn't the same blazing around on a super-tiny screen, compared to a wide-screen HDTV with surround sound blasting the Sonic CD theme music.

Tale, so far as I know none of the new Jet Set Radios come ANY where near the Dream cast one (I got a friend who is seriously into gamming, he loves the original and can't stand the PS one even though he is primarily a PS gammer)

Meh, I played consoles ages back (loved Super Mario World on the SNES) but once I discovered PCs consoles just couldn't compare. I love turn based stratagy and first person shooters, and these games are simply better on the PC. Sure, I could get a mouse and keyboard for a console, but whats the points really? It's just turning it into a PC.
I am "fascist" towards one platform because it offers me what I want. If I really loved fighting games and platformers I'd be a solid console gamer. As that isn't the case, I'm a PCer.
The only thing that's gotten me angry is that developers are now focusing much more on the console market at the expense of the PC market.

Yeah, its a sad trend to see...

Consoles are made for people who are computerphobic, who dont want to bother with with the computer. Since most people in america are, then that is why most company's decide to go to console gaming instead of computer gaming, it takes more of the general populations money.

*edited becasue I didnt see how stupid I was with my first post, sorry for those who were offened* <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yes, I agree utterly and completely, the console owner who is also the computer phobic should be shot at point blank range with rubber bullets in the head.

You know more consoles are sold in Japan than here in America. I bet that if I were to say its because Japanese people are stupider than the rest of the world you'd all label me as a racist. Yet when its bashing Americans, well that's just fine and dandy isn't it?

Why must you people always insist that your opinion is the only correct one, and thus law? If people want to play a console, power to them. It doesn't make them stupid.

    I owned an Xbox.

Until Wednesday, when my flat was burgled, and it was stolen.

Not that I'm hugely trying to avoid making use of the swear filter. Nooo. <img src='http://watmm.com/forum/html/emoticons/angry.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

Wow... so they caught them, right? I mean, they couldn't have gotten far... if they didn't sprain their back or break the dolly trying to haul that thing out, surely their car must have stalled trying to drive away with it in the back. Or left deep gouge marks in the pavement if they just hooked up chains to it and dragged it off. ^_^

I won't say that console people are stupid, they're not. The beauty of a console system is that you plug it in and it works. No patches, no crashes, no hardware conflicts. Now if you're a savvy PC user who knows their system and can figure any problems out then PCs arn't a problem, but the "average" person who wants to play games gets turned off by the PC because it appears too technical. I'm still amazed at how many people say to me when I'm fiddling with my comp "But won't it explode?!" That's not stupidity it's ignorance, which arn't the same.
Most people want simple devices that are easy to use. PCs don't really fall into that catagory because most people will immediatly call tech support if their system blue screens <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> I've taken the time and effort to learn about my PC and how to augment, repair and upgrade it. But this is unappealing to many. Hence, consoles.

Doom I hear you, people often brand the US as unintelligant and don't call it racism. It IS, but in many cases it's simply venting at America's foreign policy decisions and how they affect the world (also the percieved arrogance of the US)

I OWN THEM ALL AND I CAN SAY....

They all suck stick to PC games.
PS2 is the sux0rs for graficks (233MHz clock, 4mb video ram and liek 16mb of ram)
Gamecube = Rated Early Childhood by ESRB
Xbox is the best, but they haven't made any games but Tao Feng (lol, I know that's pretty sad) for a few months + more than a year till HAlo2

I feel sorrry for tech support.

I downloaded a mp3 with recorded tech support phone lines

"My modem was making noisse so I poured water on it and now it won't work. Help Me"
"I bent all the pins in my monitor and now it won't work. Help Me"
"HOw do I get on to this "enternet" thingy?"
"mI' CoMpUtEr SaYs Im DoInG IlLeGaL **** AnD I HaVeNt SmOkEd PoT In WeEkS"

Must not own many of the decent GC games... true, you don't get the blood, gore and splatter. But I'm willing to give all those up for great gameplay, addictive games, and the ability to carry the entire unit *easily* in one hand. Not to mention the option to add on a battery pack and plas-screen, and play it on a long trip while others are stuck on GBAs.

To steal a line... 'What, are you <i>afraid</i> of a game with a little color?'

And speaking as a former tech-support agent, at least the ones you listed were fairly tame. The drunk callers usually are the most fun, as either they expect you to walk them through fixing their computer, while drunk, or they've done GRIEVOUS damage to the system and want to somehow find reality's 'Undo' button while they're still in their stupor.

Good one. To Gamecube or not to gamecube. You want to see interesting, new kinds of games? Gamecube. Xbox suffers from a slew of samey boring games. The PS2 has loads of them too, but it has a lot of good ones also. As to X-Box games being more limited in scope - ehhhh, you need to get mad at the non-MS companies that make 98% of all x-box games. Start the big complaint campaign to get them off their unoriginal duffs. While you're at it, go after most PC game makers who are about as creative and imaginative as foot fungus. Didn't you all play Unreal 2? 4 years for that uninspired waste of disk clusters.

And finally, check out HomeLanFed's latest news...

There is also the possiblity of a program that could generate unique Doom III levels on the fly, according to the article. I am only doubtful of the entertainment value of the Xbox at it's present. I think the other two consoles are better buys. But I am aware that given enough money and good games, the xbox might become the most interesting console to own as seen from a gamer. However do not underestimate the powerful LURE of the 50 mio+ PS2 station. Any game that sells 400.000 copies on the Xbox might sell 2 mio on the PS2. And that in it self will keep many veteran console developers reluctant of giving the xbox an exclusive. Try and count the exclusives for the Xbox, most are still from old PC developers or companies with ties to the pc platform.

That being said, I kinda like some Xbox games. Hehe.
