When in reality Nikola Tesla's research was in high frequency electricity which is way beyond the low frequency electricity that kills. 10000s of cycles vs 10-100s cycles. (Much of his high frequency electricity research is used in medicine)

Have to blame C&C Red Alert for the lack of understanding of Tesla's Research.

For any smart people - I recommend you look into tesla's research (Telsa in google). He is one of the most influential and smartest humans to have ever lived. He is the brains behind AC power, practically inventing the electrical industry used today, that hasn't changed since he established it back in the 1880s.
He is also the father of Radio (US Supreme Court ruling), opposed to the widespread belief of Marconi being the father of radio. Tesla predates Marconi by 20+ years.

Many of his inventions are too far ahead of their time. Maybe in 100-200 years we will see how signifcant they are.

But quite an achievement. The Father of Both Modern Communications and Modern Electricity.
Without his achievements we would be back 100 years at least.

Yet you don't learn about him in Science Class. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
I learned about him in physics and chemistry, so I don't know what you're talking about.

As for the C&C Tesla coil, the idea is that they used Tesla's theories to run up the proper charge and then the voltage is run up, and the amps up to a certain level, the frequency is not higher than you're average wall socket, but the voltage is so great it can jump through the air with ease. Only problem is it'd hit ANYTHING conductive around it, and it'd also strike the ground constantly...

Teleportation has been done for quite a number of years now, they can teleport photons and some other subatomic particles. But they can't move anything complex, and it's only pseudo-teleportation, they're giving another photon the exact same quantum properties as the other, and simply displacing it with a field, when this happens, because no two particles can be in the exact same quantum state, the other is effectively destroyed...

Im on the side of being against the ETF, Im sure my opinion will change when 1.1 comes out though. Maybe the aliens will get "thorn damage" to offense towers or "smack damage" to the resource chambers, cause they've got those arms ya know. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

While the ETF is not my field specifically, I can assure all of you we will be going over every new facet of NS with a fine-tooth comb. You act as though there's a bad track record on the dev team's part! It won't be released unless it's fair to both sides, so hold your bitching until 1.1 is released.

Oh NO!!! is your 0 Res skulk now unable to take down a 80+ turret setup?? Go cry to your mommy while the rest of us PLAY THE GAME!!!

Hate to tell you but throwing a temper tantrum about other peoples opinions doesn’t get your point across.

Oooh, this is the first I've heard of this. This means a single skulk won't be able to take out an entire base which I just spent over 100 res building up. Funny how it waits to tell you "your base is under attack" untill after they've taken out the turret factory anda re working on the phase gate... I hope this will kill skulks slowly for touching it and like immediately for biting it. Because if they have regeneration they can just back off a bit for a second to heal which means they'd still be able to easily take out a tf, it'll only take longer.

the point is, if the game advanced that far, that you won't have to be skulks to take it out, and if you are, well, you hide till you have res to get a lerk and spike it to death.

OMG i just had an idea why not code the turrets not to fire while the tf is electrecuting??

ooh this gives me an idea. flayra: if the electric tfac is in the water, and you step in the water that it's in, will it zap you?

I think the purpose is to make it easier for marines to create TF's without the fear of an alien hitting behind the turret blindspots and destroying the TF. Obviously, TF's were not meant to be so easily defeated. So this is probably to counter it somewhat.

It is in part to require more necessity of the higher end aliens in order to kill it, thus making the onos more of a building destroyer than just a simple marine killer.

Tesla coils work in a frequency that isn't going to shock and kill you the way a normal AC line does. That doesn't make them harmless though, there's a lot of energy in those sparks and they can cause nasty radio-frequency burns (think superficial microwaving).

you can't place structures in the water so...

I wouldn't mind this change if the changed offensive chambers aswell.

Atm offensive chambers cant hit jack, they are crap shots, slow, and are very easy to shoot from a corner where they dont even attack you.

Its just stupid, u cant hide like that from turrets, good marines can easily destroy OC's without taking a single hit.

They really should have better target aquisition and be better shots IMHO.

I'd just rather see the ocs deal damage if a marine touched them (they are spiky after all). The problem with OCs right now is that marines just jump past them.

And skulks can circle-strafe turrets without taking damage as well, an take out the turret faster than a marine can take out an OC!

Offense chambers need to attack more frequently, more powerfully and at a farther range.

OCs and turrets fire at about the same rate.
OCs do 50 damage. I think thats enough, don't you ?
    What's wrong with the range ? Build em closer then <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

the issue with OCs is a bug i think, even when they *do* impact the hitbox many times they dont do damage, plus the shot tends to not go thru entities.
