lol, /me pats MonsE
@Salty: NO DEAR GOD NO!!!!!!!! ME and 2K are nowhere near the same thing. ME is 98 made worse 2K is NT4 made ussable by regular people
ME is honestly MSoft's worst OS ever, and they know it (they no longer support it in any reall way) 2K is (or was) the best thing out (XP was not that hot when it first came out so far as I know, however most things seem to be patched up and running properly now).
I still stick with 2K simply b/c I like the non bubly factor of it (yes I know you can turn off almost all of it, however there are a good number of icons and things that are still fn bubbly, and I just don't like it)
Ok, sorta on topic. I am guessing that this is not the fix for my friends comp. Does any one know of any common bugs in XP that could cause serious slowdown? I have never been able to actualy see it hapen unfortunatly so I can't give details. Meh ;D

w2k professional, is fantastic for heavy users of m$ windows. Coupled with Win2k Server edition, it makes a network, thats the most solid microsoft has ever accomplissed.
Of course it comes nowhere near the stability of a linux system, but windows has a lower tca (total cost ownership) and linux isnt practical for everyone.
I use linux for programing and mucking about with networking.
I use windows xp (best eva, slightly better than win2k) for everything else, except:
