Wind Waker

You like it?
I just got Wind Waker on the 26th, and I must say it is one hell of a game. It's much more direct than OoT (less wandering) and the puzzles make more since. Combat is also much more refined with the ability to counter your enemies attacks if you hit A at the right time . I was wondering what other NS players thought of it.

So far, its been awesome. I love just sailing the vast sea, and discovoring new islands. So far [haven't beat it yet], I'd say it's better than OoT.

That's funny because sailing is my least favorite part. I must say after you go and beat the forbudden fortress dungeon (the 2nd time you go there) your in for a a big plot development.

I'm at the forest place now and I must say... Beautiful game. Graphics, effects, sound, music, gameplay, plot, strategy... It's all there. Quite possibly one of the best games ever. I got it on Friday and have played in 2 6-hour periods so far as well as a few 1-2 hour periods now and then. Love it! Anyone who says that Zelda sucks because of the graphics needs to play the game! First of all, you barely notice. Second of all, they're awesome. I think that all future Zelda games should be cartoony! Woot.

At first I refused to even play it. Then I reserved it at EB games just for the free bonus disk. I got that, got the Wind Waker. Played it and loved it, you don't seem to even notice the cartoonishness because the game's so remarkably great. I just got the 2nd pearl. (I'm slow)

It's the new Zelda game for Gamecube. It seems pretty cool, although I can't get it cause I don't have a GC.

actually If you wanna be technical it's not cel-shading, because there is no outline on the characters. Wind Waker is what Nintendo dubbed "Toon shading" or something. But it really doesn't matter. One thing is what I said earlier about WW being more direct than OoT, I was waaay off on that. Later on in the game (more specifically after the seceond time at the forsaken fortress) there is a whole lot of wandering around looking for islands to get certain items and the whatnot. Still better than OoT IMHO.

Only reason I havent bought it is cuz its all cartoony. But Ill probably still get it. All Zelda games are hella fun.

But I hope they NEVER EVER make another Zelda game all cartoony like this.

Like they will probably jump to far to the other side of the spectra next time and the next one will have like bowls falling out of enemies.

Since I've seen 82% of the game in two days, I can say it was awesome. Last Battle was AWESOME. But Sailing over the Sea talking to 49 Fish to get the whole map uncovered sucked, really short game, but it's fun.

If only I had a GC...If it's really better than OoT, it's gotta be one helluva game. I read on Gamespot that it's a bit more straightforward and not as complicated as OoT, but is this true? Or is this a bad thing?

I agree, I would like to see the next Zelda game be more realistic. That was one of the things that made OoT stand out when it was first released, since few games on the N64 looked that good at the time. When I first heard of the cartoonish look, I was sorely disappointed. Now, I think that it looks great and has a nice unique look and feel to it, but would like to see something like Majora's Mask's graphics quality on the GC.

That opinion will change once you've played the game.
