That funky little port on Vid Card
So i've ordered an ATI Radeon 9000 with 128 Meg Of DDR Ram
and apparently it comes with a TV Out port. My current card
is a GeForce 4 MX 440 (64 Meg of SDR) and also has a Tv Out.

Anyone know if Tv-Out is a decent feature which I should take
the time to set-up? Anyone tried it? is it any good? Any extra
downloads/equipment needed?

Any responses and info on this odd but interesting port would be great.

    you don't set anything up

you know how you connect your moniter to your comp?

yah, same idea exept that you have to get a diff wire and simply plug it into your TVs video-in slot (the yellow one if you have RCA jack)

so yah, if your card has composite out then you either need a TV that has composite in (good fn luck) or a simple cable (go to radio shack or best buy) that converts composite out to RCA in

You will also need RCA connecter cable for the Audio (again rdaio shack or best buy)

Yes, this does meen that you have to carry your comp over to your TV (a pain for some people depending on your set up)

This is very nice if you:
    1) Don't have a DVD player
    2) have alot of Divx that you would rather watch from the comfort of a couch with a TV

I have a second comp that has TV out (it is my storage/prtable/video comp) SS40G from shuttle

so, I can carry that to any TV I want with minimum hassale (including the lecture halls in my college so I can watch stuff on projection screens ifd I want to )

so yah, if you need help PM me or go talk to your local best buy people (they should know)

Hmmmm interesting. I wonder if the connections differ
    on PAL and NTSC machines.

I'm gonna try it when I get my new card.
Can I use it to display whatever is on my PC Monitor onto
my T.V screen? Would be pretty cool to see NS running on
    a larger screen.

Or would the refresh rates screen stuff up?

i have 8500 all in wonder

    tv out is good!

mine has both digital tv and s video out but no rca.

the one problem i have with the tv out is that sometimes it thinks my monmitor is the tv and the desktop gets all scroly.

this probly has to do with windows 2k hating me rather than the card:)
(im the kid who took 3 days to crash win xp permanatly enough to have to remove my hdd and format on another pc)

and yes witha little playing you can get it to run games on one moitor and popup ads and aim on another.

oh one last thing. windows media player doesnt work as well as i expected with multiple monitors. but eh.

You've never seen Quake till you've seen it on a 52 inch big screen. ;)

Also something to keep in mind, most tv cards only show a res of 640x480 or 800x600, so you're gunna have to turn your res down BEFORE connecting the tv-out.

Also, usually w/ most cards its either vga out OR tv out, you can't do both at once.

But yeah, for watching DVDs (if for some reason you have no tv dvd player) or Divx's (like the warcraft 3 cutscenes.. mmmm) its great. Its also cool if you hook up a VCR to the tv, as you can record your game and stuff. This is how the pro's make their trailers, rather than running some laggy demo converter thing that only goes 5fps...

DY, I have the SAME card as you. You have S-Video out, not TV out. You need a TV with an S-Video plug. Also, don't bother unless you have an HDTV, everything sucks. Contact me for more info, I added you to my ICQ list.

eh, I have S-Video (I think) and my comp actualy came with a little converter that turned it into RCA, so finding a wire like that should be no problem.

    and as for only HDTV?
not true, I admit I have not tried gaming ussing my second box connected to a TV (no point in it, my firs comp is much better) however it is perfect for watching movies and such

Yeah, I watch movies sometimes. No point using it as a monitor unless it's an HDTV, picture is too bad.

It's really simple, and all you need is the wire. It's fun to play PC games on the T.V.
