<div class="IPBDescription">A Sequel(?) to The Speed of Darkness</div> Hi, here's another one of my "5 minute jobs." I know it's not very good, I'm only a teen with a simple mind. Hmm... Me hungry. Anyways, I posted 'The speed of Darkness" a while ago, but the mods must have deleted that page, so i cannot give yout he URL. If you like this story, I shall make more. Well, enjoy!

P.S. if you want to read "The speed of Darkness" just say the word and I'll post it. Have a good read.

----------

The consoles beeped repeatedly as the pod hurled into the atmosphere. The lone Human, laying inside a freezing chamber, could not hear the hissing of the outer hull as it melted away; getting closer and closer to it’s destination: ground. Nor could he feel the violent jolts as micrometeorites riddled the spacecraft’s hull and chewed it into pieces.

The man was a TSA pilot, in the cockpit of the Hermes advanced recon ship. The cockpit was ejected when the body of the vessel fell under attack by a swarm of Kharaa.
He still lay asleep, not knowing the dripping; oozing Kharaa egg that hung from the ceiling-panels of the Cockpit was present. Nor will he ever find out.

The ship began to bounce and sway violently, as it barley made it though the atmosphere, bits and pieces of the ship fell behind it. As it sped towards the ground, the automatic pilot began to attempt a “crash override”. It activated the emergency landing thrusters, but activating these at such a high speed was a mistake. When they ignited, they instantly blew the small Cockpit module in two, each piece (the front and the rear) falling in opposite directions. What was even more ironic (or lucky) was that Martin, the pilot for the TSA “Hermes” recon spacecraft was on the opposite piece of the dripping Kharaa egg.

He awoke to the skittering of claws on rock. His heart skipped a beat as he lay up in what used to be the freezing tube. The shield-plate was shattered, and around him there were large bits and pieces of the half cockpit in which he crashed. The eerie noises he heard upon awakening made him think about the incident that happened back in space. When the Hermes fell under attack. He instinctively reached to his side for his trusty pistol, which was gone.

He wearily stepped out of the wreckage and scanned the planet. Green, lots of Green. There seemed to be water existent on this planet, and he could plainly hear the familiar sound of chirping. But then he heard the noise again, the “Claws on Rock” noise he heard upon awakening. He couldn’t exactly tell where it was coming from, nor could he see clearly, because it was dusk, as it appeared, and there was little light. He looked up at the sky, two moons shining brightly, one with an orange haze, the other with a ghostly white haze. How peculiar, he thought. Martin sat down; ignoring any noises, and began to ponder on which planet he crashed on. He couldn’t look at the charts, because his ship was in pieces. Lots and lots of pieces.

Martin didn’t realize how lucky he was. The chances of surviving a planetary crash landing in an escape pod are slim-to-none. But his luck was soon to run out. He was safe, for now.
Martin sat up, still pondering if this was a charted planet or not. He grinned to himself as he reached down and picked up a steel rod, one of the Carbon freezing pipes used to put him into suspended animation. Martin was drained of energy, but before he set off to find a place to rest, he drove the rod into the ground and said aloud, “I claim this Planet for myself… Planet Martin!” His actions were tainted with dizziness, he couldn’t think straight. That’s what led him to do such childish acts.

Martin groaned. His legs felt like mush. It wasn’t everyday you get instantly woken up after crashing on an uncharted planet. He dragged a steel panel over two nearby boulders, and laid under it for shelter. He fell into a deep sleep. That was probably his biggest mistake.

The Skulk lay in deep grass; its sapphire eyes watched the human eagerly. Being a new hatchling, its mind was bent on survival, and this was the perfect moment to attack. Saliva dripped down the Skulk’s open maw, as it crouched deeper within the tall grass. It was going to wait until the human was deeply asleep. Then it could attack without any major consequences.

----------

End. (For now. If you like it I shall make more.)

    Hey, thanks you guys!

Okay, here's the first one, also my first story, so it's bad..... very bad. This should give you an idea why Martin crashed on the planet.

"I have arrived... for nearly six months I have been frozen in stasis. I am aboard the newest recon vessel of the TSA fleet, the ?Hermes? class scout ship. With its cloaking ability, I can travel undetected deep into enemy space. As I create this log, I am sitting by the dying Sun known as ?Mar-Sareth.? This is a one-manned vessel with simplistic controls and compact size. There is a Bedroom of petite size, a hydro-shower, and only one food/drink replictor aboard.
