remember when people actualy enjoyed the game for what it was and didn't post "If X isn't changed/fixed/removed/balaced/nurfed, NS will die!" every single day?
or how about when the people in the forums actualy had respect for other people?
or how about when Flayra was praised, rather then insulted?
I could probably go on like this for a while ... but I think you get my point.
you're a vet when you remember flaytona <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
you're a vet if you fought in lines for 3+ hours (I had 7+ downloads running all failed except for 1, the fileplanet one. But then, FILEPLANET CRASHED! So I refreshed my waiting line box and jumped from 45min wait to 5min.)
you're a vet if you fought with the installer for 30min after the 4+ hour wait (in line and download time)
you're a vet if you understood the alien side of things before release
you're a vet if you were one of the first commanders in v1 and are still commanding today. (I know thats not me.)
//EDIT you're a vet if you were one of the first who called the marines in the Power Armor "Stormtroopers" (Who did start that? Was it me? Cause I know I said they did... I can't remember if I was restating someone though.)
Note: I read the first 6 or so posts. I am taking a break from doing homework/all-nighter.

I remember going gorge, and setting up so fast that the marines would barely have their first resource node by the time I got the second hive up.
I remember using cloaking first, and RAPING the marines.
I remember the day that D>M>S was started (it hasn't and WON'T end.. people don't adapt, they ****)

...when you have read through the whole " Tales of The Frontline Stories" Thread about 4 times (just to let u know it was 102 pages big ,when it got deleted and Ns released.
...when you been mapping for NS since NSTR 1 (and have still not finished)
...when you still have a collection of all kinds of NS Promo in a secret little folder (RC Changelogs , early marine sounds , all kinds of short movies and so on)
and finally
...when even the Release of NS could not cure you of Flayritis and you're playing about 3 to 5 hours a day ( I know i'm mad)
- When people didn't respond to every question with "RTFM" or "use the search function ****", and instead took the 10 seconds or so to type out a constructive response.
- When you could reload to your heart's content by humping the armory since your current ammo was loaded first.
- When the average server pings for servers of 12+ players was 400 ish.
- You NEVER saw a mine the entire game.
- Games would last a total of 30 minutes max because the server would crash after then.
- You were hitting refresh or F5 every second on natural-selection.org or filplanet in order to get in line first (or you were a lucky **** and have a premium account).
-Your a vet when you remember Marine vs. Alien being cool before the hostile take over of race vs. race mode

Basically I agree with what was said earlier that where were playing right now are the "Golden Years" of NS, and that with the many changes coming those of us who are still around will reminess of times gone by, like "Remember when Linux servers couldnt use MT and had an average of 600 pings?" or "Remember when sieges didnt need a spotter, and Ninja-ing them in was easier?" or perhaps "Remember when D/M/S was like, the only way to go before they improved the chambers?"
you know ur a vet when you are... 1. A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity: a veteran of political campaigns. 2.
