More of penumbra

<div class="IPBDescription">The hangar</div>Lots of progress is being made now that I've gotten some feedback from testers, so I thought I'd show off some of the nearly complete areas.

First area to show is the shuttle hangar which hosts one of the hives. The room is currently bare of infestation, but the r_speeds are only 350 so I can easily add in lots of alien growth scattered around.

The shuttle craft isn't fully textured, and the textures on it are temporary until I can find a style I like, but the brushwork is complete. It's also missing a docking carriage on the upper and lower tracks, so right now it's hovering in mid-air over the elevated tracks.

The lighting looks nearly perfect to me (Could be just a touch darker), but my monitor is dark compared to most. I can't see anything in most of the screenshots posted in this forum, so to your eyes these pictures will probably look really bright. I dunno how to get around that.

    Man yama, with that sky in there, everything looks so much damn cooler, and i really like how you darkened it.  i really want to see what kind of textures you put on that ship! but otherwise then that, it looks absolutly superb!

    You alrerady know how much I love this room. I can already imagine the ooze coming off the walls. textures for ship coming, but the arcitexture for it looks a little blocky, but that is expected in the HL engine.

    I see you moved the hive over so it didn't poke into the bottom track, glad you saw that. Can't wait to see more!

    The architecture looks great, along with the lighting. The blue and white combination of lights couldn't look better. Defanitly add more detail since you've got polys to spare. Besides replacing the textures, it looks perfect.

    I love it, the architecture, the lighting it's all brilliant, the only thing I don't really like is the look of that ship, especially the back. I do realise that it will eventually get some new textures, but I think it just looks just a little too unrealistic. Apart from that, great work Yamazaki!!

    Only one marine entrance? (bottom left 2nd pic)  Gonna be a royal pain to assault that hive wth such an obvious bottle neck.

    Can't wait to see how you texture that shuttle, considering what you did with the dropship.

    You can also use the control booth as a hive entrance.

    Its so damn cool to actually be in, trust me, its one of the the more atmospheric things in all of NS's maps.

    Nice work yam, I like almost everything but the lighting. It looks like the lighting is pretty same-ish throughout those screens, I dunno maybe the lighting is better in game. Anyways I just want stronger shadows (and more shadows) that might be a bit hard though cause you have lights everywhere. This is what I would do: You see the walls with the yellow beams going down with lights on them? Leave the beams alone, but take the gray walls backwards (away from the center of the room), this should help vary the lighting and give it more depth. I know youll take a fairly big r_speeds hit but it looks like you have some to burn. Maybe you could just do that with the 2 inner gray sections and leave the outer ones alone.

    Amazing.  I love your textures.  I really like how they usually have a dark line around the edges, it makes it kinda cartoony, but in an sci-fi anime kinda way.  It looks really cool.
