<div class="IPBDescription">Transform your game!</div> The work that's been done in this forum is so impressive I wanted to make a single easy-to-install archive for the NS community at large with an aim to:
* Showcase some of the best gameplay modifications made by the modding community.
* Create a patchset desgined for regular play by selecting modifications that compliment eachother.
This is primarily for those who don't regularly visit this forum, but is posted here because it logically belongs here. A link will be posted to the general forum. If you know people who want to brighten up their game or explore mods but don't want to trudge through the forum postings, point them here.
<b>What it is</b>
A collection of some of the best game-enhancing modifications that work well together to be used in regular play.
<b>What it is not</b>
A collection of <i>all</i> the best work out there. Some modifications aren't compatible with others, so I've only included mods that integrate well with eachother and that work together to create an excellent set that works great for everday play. For example, the AvP sentry turrets aren't included as they would break consistency with the rest of the marine gear etc.
<b>What's in it</b>
This patchset includes 16 mods:
* <b>Daemon Elite</b> -- <i>Vecdran</i> -- Simply superb. Ph33r the LMG!
* <b>Dark Alien Pack</b> -- <i>Mercatorn</i> -- aliens from Aliens, nuff said.
* <b>The Queen Hive</b> -- <i>Daphisto</i> -- Complimentary hive replacement, and she moves!
* <b>Claws2</b> -- <i>Daphisto</i> -- First person Alien claws for the Alien.
* <b>Black Cannon</b> -- <i>aLFa</i> -- Complimentary black acid cannon for the Alien.
* <b>Alien Egg</b> -- <i>Daphisto</i> -- Where it all begins...
* <b>Alien HUD</b> -- <i>Mercatorn</i> -- A great addition to the alien atmosphere.
* <b>Marine HUD</b> -- <i>Carbon14</i> -- Style, all style <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.
* <b>Commander HUD</b> -- <i>Hardstatic</i> -- Complimentary sleek HUD for the commander.
* <b>Command Icons</b> -- <i>Rasulis</i> -- 25% smaller waypoint icons so your view isn't blocked.
* <b>Ringcross</b> -- <i>Souris</i> -- An elegant, clean, effective marine crosshair.
* <b>Numeric Upgrades</b> -- <i>Carbon 14</i> -- Wonder no more where your upgrades are at!
* <b>Zoom Motion</b> -- <i>Rasulis</i> -- Awesome motion tracking replacement, fits perfectly with Daemon Elite.
* <b>Grenade</b> -- <i>Sid</i> -- Adds a red tip to grenades to make them slightly easier to see for both sides.
* <b>Hivesight Blips</b> -- <i>Unknown (own up!)</i> -- Pulsating, swirling, hivesight replacement.
* <b>Blueflash</b> -- <i>Mercatorn</i> -- Unreal2 style blue muzzle flash (only the flash was used, not the sound file). Same size as original flash.
All original README files from the authors are included in the root of the archive, renamed to refer to their work.
<b>Download</b>
The file is just over 8M, download <a href='http://members.iinet.net.au/~amills/NSmods-playpack.exe' target='_blank'>here</a>.
Mirrors welcome. Spread the goodness.
<b>Install</b>
The archive is a self-extracting RAR to save space. For those who haven't installed any modifications before:
* Backup all of 'models', 'sprites' and 'sound' directories under your \half-life\ns directory.
* Run the self-extractor and point it to your Half-Life directory (<b>not</b> the NS dir underneath it) and then select 'Yes to all' for overwriting.
To restore NS to its original state simply overwrite the 'models', 'sprites' and 'sound' directories with your backups.
<b>Highlight screenshots (or 'Why you want to install this NOW!')</b>

Thankyou to everyone who made these great mods!

Gj... a great custom patch.
Actually, I want all of it except the 'Aliens' stuff. (I like the Kharaa too much, and I'm saving them for the Zerg stuff)
If it's a self extract, how do I avoid getting it all in one go?
one thing you might want to think about is: consistency (red on armory, blue on proto lab?)

I pointed it to extract to a folder on my desktop then cut + pasted the mods I wanted.

cuz im .:XxX:. NecromanZer lol
no biggie, just let the authors know ahead of time, they might reject to having their files apear in a pack...MOST of the time, this isn't the case, but SOME TIMES, it is....
*cough* i'm very protective over the things i create, and most of them are "T2K Exclusive" items... just as a note for the future, ask before you pack.
I apologise if you feel miffed but I'm not entirely clear what you're concerned about. All of the mods included have been posted publicly here or on websites for people to use, all I've done is collate some of them to make it easier for people to try them out.
All the author's README files, and thus credits, are in the pack. In fact some of the mods didn't have the author's name anywhere in the zip file, so I hunted down the source and created one to make sure the author was credited.
I've done this to promote your work. It's not pushed as something I've done, nowhere in the archive is my name present. All I've done is put a spotlight on what goes on here for the rest of the NS community to check out and appreciate.
No offence intended.
Mart
some authors are touchy about what you do with their creations, and it's a good idea to nitfy them of their inclusion... me, i'de not like to see my things hosted anywhere other than T2K...
i've had people send me flame e-mails about not telling them i was hosting a file...granted, they posted it on the forums, but you never know what people will want....... until you ask
Looks good though, did you consider using the reskined AL|EN structures?
*downloads*
Thanks!
Ok, I understand. Do I have permission to include your work? I will of course remove it if you don't want it in.
Kittens,
I didn't see your pack, and my hosting is just the 30M I get with my ISP account. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> I have another 20M odd if someone wants something hosted. Send me your pack!
I did consider using the Alien structures, but it breaks consistency with the levels (green slime etc everywhere, and still green/brown DCs etc). I know I know, we have black Aliens running around, but it's the deliniation between aliens and structures. And the queen? She's black/brown <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->. I feel it's a closeish fit.
Sid,
I'm just an NS player like the everyone else, this pack isn't some sort officially endorsed collection! However if more of the NS community downloads it and tries it out, I'll be happy. I think these mods are excellent and add a new level of gameplay. Be a shame to think so many NS players might go on not knowing these sorts of mods exist.
Mart
Did the whole bone alignment, model optimizations, one animation and almost no credits...

Open your console, and enter<!--c1--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->con_color "x y z"<!--c2--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->where x y and z are RGB values from 0 to 255.
Edit: What's the EXACT number you had in that pic?
Edit2: Hello? Can someone help me? Can someone tell me what to type to change the colors into the colors Souris have in that pic a bit up?
