I'm not sure if it's just my computer, but whenever I am watching another skulk attack or bite something, it doesn't play the biting animation. I was wondering if this is normal or if it's a bug or whatever.
that's a little problem with all the NS animations, when a melee unit stick too close to a target, it's melee animation will not show up. Since skulks will always stick up to a target ( especially a building type of target ), it's bite animation will disappear. But other than that, yes, it does bite and there IS an animation for it.
Actually, the way I understand it is that the animations for the bite are there (easily verified with HLMV), but the NS team haven't coded it into the gameplay yet. We can probably expect it to show up a patch or two from now.

why should it matter how many legs an animal has for it to bite? lol

I think it's something like, a regular player model would have a top and bottom half. Top controls the arms, bottom controls the legs. 4 legged creatures would only have a bottom half. Only bones you can control there are the legs. Animating is not my expertise, but this is what I've noticed over all HL mods.
If you use a HL model viewer, you can check out the unimplemented model animations. The animations are there, they just aren't included in the game.
I was dissapointed with the skulk and lerk bite attacks, just the mouths open and close. With skeletal animation, I had hoped to see a skulk thrashing it's head around when it bites, trying to rip apart targets.
The gorge spit animation is decent, it's tongue recoils as it fires. The heal spray animation is cool.
My favorite attack is the Onos bite attack. It swings it's head around thrashing with it's horn and it's dreadlocks swinging all over the place.
Another note that some of the attacks really don't have animations. The other Onos and Fade abilities use the attack 1 animation as placeholders.
What I found interesting was that some of the marine buildings have death animations. These simply consist of the buildings falling on their side. The NS team I think made a good call not putting them in.

Thank you for the reaffirmation Leitsi. I was starting to doubt the statement made by one of the devs, but your telling me now has nullified those doubts.
Heh there are a couple of other animations that dont work (I think <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->) like the tread water animation and the swim animation.
