<div class="IPBDescription">This game still rocks!</div>After playing BF1942 at a LAN on some other people's computers, I decided to pick it up for myself. Man, its a hoot. Just a ton of fun to be flying over the map in a plane and whatnot. I've gotten to be quite a good pilot, dogfighting and everything. I even fly in first person mode! (its easier for me). Too bad I can't bomb for crap. :P
So who else has this one? And still plays it? And where?

If you like flying planes then i'm gonna have to push you <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=10&t=26858' target='_blank'>in this general direction.</a>
The thing that really peed me off about the game was the state it was released in. It was a friggen mess when it came out. Really unpolished, buggy etc.. They did release an update the day it came out but it has only been sorted out in the latest patches so I'm alot happier with it now.
And btw if you have this game the desert crisis mod is a MUST! A really good conversion of the game. You get modern jet, apache helis, abrams tanks and all sorts. Very fun!
Desert Combat... cause Desert Crisis is a HL Mod, that probably wouldn't translate too well. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
If you even touch the single player part of this game, half the fun of downloading Desert Combat is playing through single player again with the modern weapons. Watch the bots try to fly the heli... loads of fun. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Any of you guys got that Road to Rome expansion? any good? what's in it?
Oh, also I heard the helecopter in DC is bugged and really hard to controll, is that true?
Also in the previous 2 pictures, notice how i save my team mates ****'s.
I mean, constant spawn killing from super sonic planes, even if they die, there back in like 10 seconds again.
The humvee's are cool though.
Some pictures I took when playing... but the pictures are alittle messed up because the **** program that loads the pictures up. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Thats the new upgrade that EA has released to BF1942. You can now play in Italy, you can also play as France and Italy. Mauser's can now have bayonets... much more new.
I've bitched about BF1942 in several other threads, if you are interested in the details you can look it up. But just a quik recap:
Tigers have a range of like 100ft (total BS)
Tigers and other tanks can be killed by Grenades (dont even get me started)
Sniper rounds take 2-3 hits to kill.
Jeep is the most powerful gun in the game (you can ram a battleship with a jeep and sink it)
It had no single player
And its totally unrealistic, when it was advertised to be the greates WW2 war game ever
If they marketed it as an arcade came, and said fromt the begining (this is a multiplayer only game meant to be enjoyed for fun not realism) I wouldnt have had such a problem with it
And as far as the sniper kills go, I get one shot kills all the time. Maybe you just aren't as good of a shot as you think? Sniping is very, very different in bf1942, and I really dig it. You actually gotta work hard to be a good sniper, you can't just go cs-awp style :P

Tigers and other tanks can be killed by Grenades: That''s the thing I hate most in the game...
Sniper rounds take 2-3 hits to kill: Shoot them in the head and they will die direct.
Jeep is the most powerful gun in the game: Umm.. jeep... a gun?
you can ram a battleship with a jeep and sink it: And how do you get a jeep in the water?
It had no single player: Yes it has.
And its totally unrealistic, when it was advertised to be the greates WW2 war game ever: Must it be realistic to be advertised to be the best WW2 game?
Now... keep this answers in mind.
BF1942 is OK I just cannot seem to get the idea for it. Operation Flashpoint was much better IMO
I remember the jeep battleship bug... but that was long ago in playtesting... hell, you could just drive any tank through water to attack a carrier.
from your prop <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Battlefield 1942 pulls the landing gear up for, stops the engine overheating
for you, adjusts your wings flaps for you. It does everything except pull
the trigger and drop the shells for you <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
In a PROPER game, you have to pull the gear up yourself (at the wrong speed
will rip it off and result in you attempting a belly-landing when the mission requires it)
you have to keep an eye on your engine status, open the radiator if it gets too hot.
I actually like Battlefield 1942, but until my mate Gaz returns my copy
then i'm gonna have to poke fun at all you "dog-fight kings" <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Have fun people, see you in the Battlefield....... one day. <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
cooooooooolllllllll.
i am more into realistic games/teamplay games
is there any teamwork at all?
is there a realism mod?
/me kicks, burns, tackles, stabs, etc his intergrated Intel® Extreme Graphics AGP, his no AGP slots, and his 4 PCI slots....
i fly stuff. i pull off incredible moves and then slam into a tree.
i do this repeatedly.
the game's infantry recoil/spread system is utter crap, but most other facets of the game are pretty good.
unfortunately, the slower gameplay promotes camping of all kinds, especially spawn-camping.
most of the game classes are screwed up, and EA messes up the balance every patch.
in RTR, EA screws with the balance even more, if thats physically possible. It's quickly going the way of JK2, which was ruined by the devs listening to everyone moaning.
