"rambos" Do Not Play This Game.

If they do, it's not for long.
Face it, NS does not reward pure fragging nor does it encourage ignoring your team. From a purely action point of view, it's a sub par game. I know a few people who play online FPS games solely for the fragging. They each tried NS for a whole 10-15 minutes before saying "This sucks." and uninstalling it. A true "I only play to frag, don't care about anythign else" kind of player will get bored with the game VERY quickly.

Aggressive players are often labeled as "rambos", myself included. Just because we don't spend 99% of our time humping either a teammate or the armory does not mean we don't give a crap about the team and the outcome of the game. We'll kamikaze rush the hive early to nail the gorge. We'll knife RTs to slow down alien income or at least draw their attention. We'll jump past OCs to reach good phase/siege locations. We'll JP abuse to take down hives/expensive aliens. Are you going to tell me these things don't help the team at all? If we fail what we were trying to do, at least we will have been damn good low cost distractions.

Actually I think NS is quite good if all you like to do is kill.
Before aliens get carapace marines have a field day, its fun to just run around and kill as many skulks as possible before they get carapace. If your crap and keep dying then youd be better off going to WPs and securing locations. If your really good though and keeping half the alien team busy and the other half dead then you are the biggest asset on your team as you are contributing the most gain.

Then when aliens get lvl 3 cara the roles are reversed and a lone skulk to take out large groups of marines alone.

Ramboing is more fun for most players, plain and simple. Poeple play for fun not for teamwork. If you want teamplay go play in a gather or clan match, if you play in a pub then expect people to play for fun.

I rarely rambo, but when I do I usually make the comm happy he let me. Give me a shotgun/welder and drop a medpack on me once and a while, and I'll have the entire map sealed off (Except what we want open, of course) in minutes. Along with taking out several skulks/lerks.

I rambo all the time. It's great.

I even have a bind to

"say Hunt the Fatteh, hunt the Fattehhhhhhh!"

Just so he can know I'm coming, and be scared.

Yup, sometimes good rambos are usefull. Few times when i have commed, i start to place buildings and wait until my team builds them, suddenly someone shouts: "I pop the fatty". I am like wth? When did that guy left the base?

It is pretty hard to destoy alien RT if you go alone. So it is better to move in groups, if you want to destroy those RT's.

But sometimes i just see guys who runs in to a empty hive and just sits there and keep asking for phase gate, before i even have observatory or any res nodes (except the base res)

One thing i hate about rambos is that, when i give HA/HMG/welder to someone and order him to wait until i equip the others, he goes for rambo and gets killed by two fades...or few

Actually ramboing isn't as bad as it sounds. The problems come when BAD players rambo, i.e. they think their ungodly CS/UT skills do them much good in NS. But it wont at first. Only when you know the game by heart can you be a good rambo. Some of the most brutal games are the ones where marines rambo like mad and aliens run into them constantly all over the map. Suddenly there's a phase gate up in your back yard, or the gorge gets popped by two rambos. OR your hive is assaulted. Ressource towers go up and down like there's no tomorrow on both sides. They can be pretty funny when all players are good. Key is: a good rambo marine knows where the good spots are and can take a few skulks at a time without dying. And is going places where he knows he will be needed.

Of course, you can risk everyone ramboing right out of your base and leave it open to skulk ramboettes

Yeh ramboing can be fun and useful... at the correct time... Its no good if ur a good shooter and u arn't backing up ur mates while they build. I reckon the best times for a ramboing is 1 guy at the start to pop the fatteh and at the end just for fun when rines are nearly dead u try to sneak a guy out. The best fun is trying to hide from the skulks and the skulks trying to hunt u down.

I just hate the loners who camp in a dodgy hitbox spot not supporting crap except the occasional skulk who wanted a feed.

hey if you consider gorge hunting like ramboing, know that if I see/hear a gorge, I tell him I see a gorge, and see him defenseless (if he is so). Most of the time, I'll wait for an answer, but if I see him building an OT, I'll go charge him most of the time. And hoping the comm helps me with a couple meds if needed

Ah yes, and apart from that ramboing is not fun at all D: You're dead much longer, you dont get equipment (they ask you to kindly leave the drop area so we can drop equipment without anyone stealing it ) and you're busy asking for meds and equipment without ever getting any. (This is what I think as I dont recall ever ramboing )

ah ramboing, it's basically all i do on pubs. I get alot of clan play so pubs can be frustrating if I actually to do what the comm says. Most of the comms out there will just drop a tf in base which makes me cry. But it's good practice for me. If I can go out and get repeatedly attacked by skulks alone, i'll be much much better in scrims when i have teammates to back me up. I've really got the art of gorge hunting down. I always know where they are going. Like if the map is ns_caged the gorge is almost always certain to go block the shipping tunnel door. I don't know why but they think it's so important. I time it so that i get there about the time hes ready to drop the res node. It's really funny when they dont block it correctly and I hop right over it, lol. Also places like cargo and chem transport on ns_tanith are a rambos dream. I can take out the RT and hold of plenty of skulks with all that room.
