<div class="IPBDescription">do you say "w00t"?</div> I'm increasingly finding I'm using words like "roffle" and "woot" in real life. I even said "ROFLMAO" once <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
My boss hates me saying woot, probably 'cos she has no idea what it means.....

Am I the only one?

'w00t, pwn, and l337' are all pretty common words in my vocab, hehe.

In germany instead of laughing a whole lot, we'd say "loooool" and stuff like that.

Here in the better educated College environment.. whenever something bad happens we say **xx0r! (and no, that isn't haxxor)
w00t is an expression of glee, like "yay!" or "yippeeSkippee!"

pwned, thought difficult to pronounce at first, is also growing in popularity.

One of my friends once said "lol" while we were chatting on the phone.
I interupted his continuing line by shouting "what the hell did you just say!?"
He explained that "lol" he "slipped out" so i started laughing and put the phone down on him.
Luckily he saw the funny side.

I occasionally say lol in real life :-)
But what does imao mean? I always thought it was "In my arrogant opinion", but it seems to have taken on a different meaning...

It's not "imao," it's "lmao" (or, in caps, LMAO). You may have thought the lowercase 'l' was an uppercase 'I'. It stands for "laughing my a$$ off."

I frequently find myself saying "w00t," ""elite"," and "pwn" (pronounced like "own" with a 'p'), and, to a lesser extent, "lol" and "OMG."

You should probably just dig yourself into a hole if you say any internet abreviation used among geeks in real life. I'm a completely different person offline than online.

I know (or rather, one of my friends knows) a guy who prefers to be called w00t. I'm serious.

I feel that actual words ( own, pween, w00t, hax ) are acceptible, but I laugh quite a bit at people who think acronyms ( lol, roflmao, SUYF, a/s/l) are words...

In particular, the one I really, really hate is when people use "lol" like "ha"... So instead of "hahaha" you get "lololol"... its bad enough to see that typed, but if you ever hear it, your head may explode...

The exception to this is of course "r00fles", just cause it sounds so damn funny. :P

Me and my friends were watching this crappy episode of Gundam on Cartoon Network one day, and the main character, in an obviously bad translation and dubbing moment, said 'My Whole Body is NUMB!!!'

to which my friend immediately responded, 'MY WHOLE BODY IS N00B!!!'

other than that, we have little inside jokes IRL about 'r0x0ring j00r b0x0rz', adding '-z0rz' to the end of every word, and '3y3 4m ub4r l-3-3-t
    I have a friend who says 'lol' in real life, although i had to slap-kick him for that one. And i usually tend to think of rofl as 'raw-ful' or 'roh-ful'...thankfully i haven't started saying that yet. I've been tempted to say SUYF before, but luckily i caught myself in time ^_^;;

we have all sorts of fun with l-3-3t sp33k in real life...none of us use it when speaking normally though, usually we just use it when messing around.
