Can Someone Make Me Some Chains?

...no, it's not for an S&M dungeon
If anyone has seen Alien (the first film) the full grown alien makes his first kill in an area of dripping water and hanging, swinging chains. Parts of ns_bast seem heavily inspired by it. I want to have the hanging chains in a similar area, which incidentally should have hooks on the end. I could use a func_pendulum for the effect, but a well animated model would look much more realistic (it would not have to look 'stiff', it could flex). There is one problem with modelling a chain like structure - how to create the holes in the links. The Half-Life engine does not support masked or alpha mapped skins, and modelling each hole individually with polygons would not be a good idea. The best way would be to make the long chain look 'knobbly', and then have a good skin which conveys the detailed shape of the links. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say .
If anyone could make me really good chains they would receive much congrats in my readme file, and I'm sure other people would want to use such a model too. Remember they must gently swing, and have hooks on the end
