<div class="IPBDescription">:D</div>w00t, got my upgrade working completely correct now! Was having some troubles at first, but those have been solved. And hot damn its fast now! Ripe for the pwnage! :D

Old stuff:
1.4ghz AMD
Giga-byte 7DX mobo
256MB PC2100

New stuff:
2.4Bghz Intel
MSI Master-L E7205 DUAL CHANNEL DDR woooo
512MB PC2100 (Dual Channel! woo!)

Things much faster. One thing I was disappointed with though was a relatively small (like, less than 200) increase in my 3Dmark score...

1.4ghz

2.4ghz

Dunno why its so small a difference :/

Can you see your bench marking for free?

    (currious if it can calculate less then 1 on it ) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

just download 3dmark.. shareware still lets you run the test and get a score, you just can't customize it.

I heard that the new 3D mark is incredibly harsh because it does tests that the NEXT generation of video cards (IE GeForce FX) will be capable off. This way Mad Onion won't have "outdated" software the minute that the new cards hit the market.

Expect scores to jump considerably when the new cards are out.

I have a 1 ghz thunderbird, and my dad has a 1.8 ghz p4. We both have similar setups, we both have geforce 3's. I scored 1 mark higher than his system <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Well I got a friend who did a test when 2 gig was just out
but still had an old gforce
Ran a test on 3D mark
And direct 3D beat the OpenGL well did until he upgrade the 3d card

This pointless information was brought to you by redeemed darkness <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

The reason GeForce3s score so low is that 3DMark03 does NOT have a dedicated rendering path for them, as I understand it. They have to use the GeForce 2-optimized stuff, as they can't handle the GF4 path, and obviously not the GFFX path.
I find it funny that on an Ath 2200 with a Radeon 9500, I get around four times that score. :3

Oh.. and the demo is *sweet* with 6xFSAA and 16x aniso turned on. Does drop the second scene (soldiers in hallways) to about 12-20fps, but the initial one with the plane runs at 30-60.

(Points and laughs at the GeForce FXes not even being on the shelf yet, already having been beaten solidly about the head and shoulders by the R9700 Pro, and the R9800 Pro is already on store shelves... while nVidiot can't seem to ship cr*p)

I envy you Doom, I wish I had money, lousy stinking girlfrined and lousy stinking college and lousy stinking truck/cell phone payments and lousy stinking game addiction...

On a lighter note, I have an AMD athalon 750, what TYPE of RAm shoud I get? (I know how much Im going to get, its just the different types (PC100, PC133, etc...) confuse and frighten me)

A mate of mine's running an AMD 2400+ Radeon 9700 pro 512 meg DDR ram and he gets a wee bit over 4000 points in 3dmark 2003.

    That's fooking good.

What's more is that his computer barely runs some of the tests, it can't even run the best one. That just gives you a glance at how harsh 3dmark 2003 tests are.

    --Scythe--

P.S. Be mindfull that 3dmark 2001 and 2003 use totally different scales, they are not comparable.

Does the new version of 3D mark still have the cool matrix lobby rip off?
