restructuring
Natural Selection Admin Federation is reorganizing. We realized that the rules were too anal for most servers and that sysops like more control over thier server than what we were implimenting. It was a good idea, but very impractical. So we've decided to help the NS community by restructuring into a Banlist control group.
The structure has yet to be determined but basicly we would control who is to be banned (exploiters, cheaters, ragers, hackers, and serious llamas). This organization would take requests, proof against anyone who got banned. Using our MM plugin (thank you [WHO]Them), It would request the banlist every map change and update and ban everyone in the list. The organization would also take, review, and control any possible unbans (although unlikely, but it does happy...typo'd wonid, etc).
Vote for our new leader, we need help deciding on a new leader though. Most of these people you already know as well.
Thank for you time.

If you haven't figured it out already, we're kinda shooting for a U.N.-esque organization for NS servers to join in.
I also have 25 admins, which requires that we keep track of every ban in a ban thread, so if a say, community member gets banned, we can easially track it down, and delete all unreported bans...
How would that sort of system work with NSAF?
Nifty, eh?
A member of NSAF submits bans, and the bans go into effect immediately. With each ban, at least the following will be tracked:
banned wonid
handle of banned party
ban submission date
admin that submitted the ban
server where infraction was committed
ban category (cheating, griefing, general llamaism, etc)
text describing reason for ban (to supplement category)
I envision a database, with each entry also having the following columns:
active - if a ban is revoked, this column is "unset". That way, repeat offenders can be tracked. Always leave a trail.
ban revocation date
ban revocation reason
If an admin gets too ban-happy, the NSAF board can decide to revoke that person's ban rights. By having each ban tacked with the submitting admin, you make each admin accountable for their actions. Necessary in a system that relies on trusting the admins to act appropriately.
In a situation like Lightning Blue's, which is very common (one server with many admins), I see two obvious strategies:
1 - LB submits his local bans (or a subset thereof) to NSAF on behalf of his admins.
2 - LB's admins obtain their own NSAF logins, and post their own bans.
But, I think I'll halt my ideas here. I'll try and get my butt over to the NSAF boards and flesh all my thoughts out.
Feel free to give your ideas at the NSAF forums, too.
