Plot?
Ok I just watched this film, its very late and im under the influence as it were so I only half caught onto the plot. Need somoene to clarify what is was all about so my head can stop spinning.

So theres this teenage kid, Donnie Darko with mental problems, like visions. He has an invisible friend called Frank wearing a Halloween bunny costume. Frank tells Donnie to go around and do stuff, one of these ventures results in Donnie evading his own death (Final Destination style) from a falling plane engine that came from the future through a wormhole. What ensues is a depiction of how time plays out in the new corrupted timeline resulting from Donnie changing the future. This "Bad" time line as it were is alot worse than the real time line would of been. During all this Donnie has random visions of things that come true or relate to his real life directly in the future. So Donnie uses the knowledge gained from the visions to go back in time and die like he was supposed to restoring the time line.

Is that right? or completely and utterly wrong? ;/

I've seen this, and liked it.

I think Frank's trying to screw Donnie into dieing so he doesn't kill Frank in the future. But what do I know? I'm just and idiot.

I've rented it and seen it several times, but each time I started watching it I had just returned home from drinking.

Needless to say, I still need to watch it sober. You lose track of the plot very quickly. From what I recall, it was pretty interesting.

Not yet seen it, although it's on my list of things to do. I'll grab it on DVD when it comes out.

Donnie Darko is a great movie. It ranks up there on my list of "weird movies" along with Memento, Mulholland Drive, Requiem for a Dream, and Se7en.

Donnie Darko is one of my all-time faves. I've got a pretty good handle on how everything works in the movie, I think, but I won't spoil it for the uninitiated by spelling it out here.

Those of you who have seen the movie and want to understand it better, do a search online for "The Philosophy of Time Travel" by Roberta Sparrow. (There's a copy of it on the DVD as well.) It's pretty easy to connect the dots when you have that in front of you.
