It was awesome!
I went to a LAN party last night, and despite being to many quakecons and having 2 or 3 people at my house before, this was my first time for a local one.
And holy crap it was fun. :D
Played a ton of BF1942 & Generals. Also some JK2. Sadly, the lan was borked so for some reason q3 didn't work on an entire table (mine). I also tried to get an organized game of NS going but there just wasn't enough time.
What's really funny is the fact that I won a Counter-Strike tournament. Me, who doesn't like CS. Me, who didn't even have CS installed till he got there. Me, who wasn't in a clan, didn't practice, or anything. I won some Bawls, happy me. ^_^
Then they had a raffle and I won some fancy pants expensive case. But I didn't really want it. I just don't like shiny reflective steel. I didn't need a build in window. And I really didn't need a big purple/green/blue/red/yellow (switching colors) LED displaying the temperature inside. So I decided rather than just selling the thing I'd be kind and just told them to raffle it off again to somebody who wants it. They gave me more Bawls since I was a good sport. I feel like I came out on top. ^_^
All in all, it was terrific fun. If anybody reading this is in Oklahoma, you really need to go next time!!!

Wow, Ohio?! Lucky you!! I'm in Newfoundland, Canada - a region that has yet to be blessed with gravity!! This "Internet" thing is still a long evolutionary journey for this little corner of the world, I'm sorry to say.
Obviously, I'm being slightly sarcastic. Sure, we have gravity, but it's a little unstable. Waking in the morning with my face frozen into the igloo's ceiling is uncomfortable, at best.
LOL, ok, maybe you might have it worse. I guess gravity is a luxury. I heard about this thing called indoor plumbing, it sounds like the ticket!
But, I am really looking forward to http://www.fragapalooza.com , the LAN party near me. It's big (which is good and bad), but good this year, as I am trying to get something done special for NS at it! Lan parties = win!
However I only jsut discovered there is actually a LAN Gamers club...In my town..now all I have to do is find them however they are prooving to be elusive.
If any fo you people are from Thirsk, North Yorkshire, UK and are a secret member of this LAN cult can I get inititiated please?
me? Im so friendly though......
but when I went with my cousin to check it out (prices, games etc)
we were put off by the 10 year olds "arranged" kills.
"Stand there and i'll shoot you in the face".
Might go on a School night so we can avoid crap like that.
I remember asking the guy "do you run Natural-Selection here?"
And he looked at me with a blank face, to which I uttered "it's a new Half-life mod".
But then was only 2/3 days after the NS release. So maybe they'll have it by now.
Doom.
I hate Doom.
Not really much gaming action here.
wub j00 too silver. ;)
YOU MEANIE!!!
Rei is God! (Well some form of god anyway. See End Of Evangelion go figure!)
The LAN arena where we are still doesn't have NS.....
But thats what broadband is for!
