<div class="IPBDescription">Query about leap attack.</div> Ok i love playing skulk, i think they are the gods of NS. But im confused about scoring a hit with leap. The guide says "# of "touches" on target x 4", but im not sure what this means. Do you have to hit the opponent with the start of the attack so the claw swipe animation comes in contact with the marine or can you do it at the end of the leap. Basiclly, the leap attack lasts about 1 full second.

This means that during that entire second, u have the chance to touch domething to make damage.

However, if u, at any point, LAND, the attack is defined as over, so no more damage occurs.

Landing is basiclly sticking to any object, even a person/builing.

To NOT stick to stuff, hold down the crouch key while attacking.

To see the damage cause by leap, do a LAN game and get 2 hives, then build an armory. Once that is done go skulk then jump ontop of the armory, and face down. Think of the original platform games, where baddies hurt you just by touching you, even without doing some kind of attack. That's what a skulk becomes when it leaps - it hurts stuff that it touches for the duration of the attack.

I find leap useful for taking out jpers flying around a hive.

if you manage to do a full leap attack, you do 16 damage,

it;s # of touches and 4 damage per touch

full is 16

less is 12

half is 8

and quarter is 4

better definition of a touch, your hull colliding with another hull. and who said the max was 4 touches? Every single time the server goes through a cycle it deals 4 damage so long as something is touched and the attack is active.

best way to learn how leap hits is to use it on some glass.

try making your own server, and putting up a hive by cheating ("sv_cheats 1" then "spawnhive") and leap some glass, you'll hear the glass starting to crackle.

actually, leap does a LOT of damage, a whole lot. It is possible to kill a 100/50 marine straight out of the box with leap if you aim it correctly. While leap can be used for a pure offensive move, it is much more effective comboed with bite. Leap at enemy, hold crouch, as you close, and leap is still active, bite. You will be causing damage from two scources at one time... and this is devastating and almost impossible to stop if performed correctly.

I also leap into packs of marines trying to hit all of them if I know anotther skulk is doing the same or Fades are backing me up. Leap softens them up nicely for other people as well as being a strong weapon in the right hands.

Also, it is rumored that if you can manage to get under the marine and leap straight up, it will be a 1 hit KO.


This is another reason why it is to have the S chamber not last, because you can stay cloaked on the ground and if a marine tries to jump over you (most either jump over or walk around), you can leap straight up, killing him.
