A Few New Tricks

<div class="IPBDescription">if u hate marine attacks</div> I did this on ns_caged.

Me and my clan leader [Black Ops] Yesheep and several others (this is a pub server btw) sat ouside the maine base, we had 2 lerks (me and clan leader) and the rest (3 of them) were skulks 2 skulks stayed with the gorge near the hive. What we did was hang around on both sides of the exit and in that vent just up top and killed all marines that ran out. The lerks had Regen and the skulks had cara (level 3) when a marine came out the skulks would run at him and the lerks would shoot, us lerks usually made the kills because the marine was busy shooting and dodgin the skulks (also there is no impact sound against surfaces for the lerk spike)

Basically, camp outside their base and it will hold them off long enough for a gorge to get a nice establishment going (try to stay alive ling enough for the res to tick over).

Sounds good...but poses a few problems..

    1) You have to wait for all 33 res to go Lerk
    2) Once 2 or 3 people go Lerk the gorges income will drop significantly and overall the 2nd hive and D chambers will take longer to get
    3) You'd have to keep the marines contained long enough to get the res to go Lerk and then contain them "indefinitely"
    4) I can't think of a number 4 but I wanted to make this list look long

    Other than that...sounds sexual

As mentioned before, you first need to get the resources to got Lerk and to build defence Chambers.
by the time you are that far the Marines will not only already have left their Base but could already lock down or at least guard one hive location.
The two spots outside the Marine Base are well know so two Lerk will not be able to stay there for long against some average Marines.
If you want to contain Marines on caged with your Lerk then you should use hiding spots that are not used so frequently such as behind the Doors leading to Generator or the Hallway leading to sewer vestibule.
Fact is, this tactic is definitly NOT cointainment in first place, because it take too much time.

Yeah...it's still funt o bag a few newbies now and then who don't check up there though. You'd be surprised how many people just run by you if you have another alien "bait" for you.

Done that when I was in a playfull mood.
You can also for extra effect stop a while to tag the wall before heading out again <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Even more points if you tag the wall behind the CC and gets out again <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

MY friend and I had a somewhat similar idea we tried. We were playing on a pub on the griean_beta map. The marines had taken long hall (suprise suprise) and we were trying to get it back. I was watching my friend do hit and run spike shootings down the hall, and marines almost chasing him down. So we got the idea for the lerk to keep shooting (with regen of course) and draw the marine into the next room where we (the skulks) were sitting above the door. The marine folowed the lerk all the time and we just jumped down and ate him quick.

Lerking before you have dcs is a waste. One decent marine will take you out, and you have no chance against them if they use the rush-the-fade! strat against you <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Otherwise, there are circumstances that warrant using a lerk early game, but most of the time the skulks should be able to handle it. Once the gorge drops the second hive, tho, you might as well go ahead and lerk if you're going to be umbra support a few min later. They really do help, and a good jp rush will be coming right around that time, so the extra safety measure doesn't hurt any either.

I like to run distraction just before a big attack. Go skulk, get adrenaline and regen, and just leap all through their base. Your goal isn't to kill anything, but to stay alive as long as possible and provide a distraction for both the marines and the comm. With infinite leap and regen, you can just fly around and survive for a pretty long time, pausing to bite something/someone when the opportunity arises, and then leap away when you start getting hit.

A lot people try to use early lerks as heavy assualt for some reason and not the light harassers that they are.. just do fly byes, shoot 4-5 spikes and fly away. It may seem like a waste at first, until you start to get kills and it forces the marines to always be on their toes. It depends on the level layout, but flybys work on any larger room.

Hehehe. Nothing like being a comm. and hearing:

    Medpack plz.

    (1 minute later)

    Medpack plz.

(30 seconds later, and from 2 marines)

    Medpack plz.

    ...argh...*twitch*...*recycles*...

if your going to be flying by with a lerk, why not drop a few spikes and bite em then drop some more spikes, then they're dead in one run. or just two bites does it too.

Lerks are best in a group attack. The few slippery marines that avoid being bitten get spiked to death. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Im with hornet on this one. Two bites fly by is the best. I see too many noobs just sit there spiking. Just once, try biting someone. Its not that hard to flyby. I started with HA so i could never miss, but pretty soon you can hit Jper on the fly.

    Baiting is amazing.

Just stand there, looking all killable, and run away when the marine starts shooting. Then your buddy drops on his head. It's great.

On the Great Viaduct on Nothing, the marines had HMGs and full armor upgrades, though not HA yet. They were raping our defences and spawn, and since that was our new hive, all the skulks had rushed there and gotten pwned. So me, as a lerk, up on the catwalk, decides to swoop down and eat some heads.

Bite BEFORE you get to them.. it's a lag thing I think..
But I got 3 kills by swooping around and biting, and occasionally Spiking from dark places. We lost the hive eventually, but it was proof that a swoop-bite tactic can work against heavier marines.

Swooping around and biting as a lerk is uber cool
but lerks are called lerk for a reason, there supposed to hang out in the shadows and cause havoc, not attack full out, becuase they get shreaded.
